Unzer, a leading payment platform for small and mid-sized businesses in Germany, Austria, and beyond, has teamed up with the European Payments Initiative (EPI) to support the rollout of Wero โ€“ Europeโ€™s newest digital payment method.

Wero is a mobile-first wallet that allows for instant, account-to-account payments, aiming to offer an easy, secure and sovereign way for people to pay and shop across the continent.Launched in Summer 2024, itโ€™s already available for person-to-person payments in Germany, France, and Belgium, and will soon expand to support e-commerce, mobile commerce and point-of-sale transactions.

For Unzer, this partnership is a natural step. By integrating Wero, Unzer strengthens its mission to simplify commerce and accelerate digital adoption for small and medium-sized merchants.

Based on instant account-to-account payments, Wero further streamlines payments in Europe by eliminating intermediaries in the payment chain and the associated additional costs. Wero already supports payments between individuals, and will shortly unveil payments to professionals and those for online and mobile purchases. Point-of-sale payments will also be offered, as well as value-added services such as merchant loyalty programs and recurring subscription management.Find out more at wero-wallet.eu.

Are there any well regarded brands in the EU that sell high quality short?

Love my Dickies shorts because Iโ€™ve found them to be well made and long lasting but am considering options if I can find equivalent products.

Europeโ€™s ambition for digital sovereignty is more urgent than ever. But instead of backing truly European, privacy-first services, many European businesses and even EU and local authorities still rely on US tech, and might consider the brand-new and shiny "sovereign cloud" offerings as a useful solution.

But what if the "sovereign cloud" is less secure than US companies want us to believe? Let's take a deep dive into the "Microsoft Sovereign Cloud", the "Sovereign Cloud from Google", and the advertised "European Digital Sovereignty from Amazon Web Services" and whether it's safe to use these as a European authority or business.

So the idea is a mix of user submitted playlists, informational segments and a few ads from hand-picked EU based companies that deserve more attention anyway. The ads can in turn fund music licensing fees.

For the info segments it could be anything really like current events, mildly interesting facts, fun novelties and so on as long as it is relevant to the European audience. People could either record their own voice or hand in text that is then recorded by other volunteers. Someone would have to curate all of this of course and I'm thinking maybe that part can be handled sort of like moderating a Lemmy community. As in enforcing a set of rules without intervening too much.

Would you be interested in this? Or would you even like to participate? I'd have to ask for help with the technical side of things anyway. But I'm convinced this could be a fun project and provide a nice alternative to paid audio streaming so I'm willing to put in some effort.
