This past year i have been in a government sponsered profession-rehabilitation program, that helped me get away from my previous profession and find a new one, one that is compatible with my health issues. I made a total of 6 owls for all the 6 different workers there, who helped and assisted me this whole time. Only 5 in the photo because one of the workers went on pension last week, so i gave him his owl earlier!

Im extremely grateful for their help and hope to stay in their memory by gifting them these handmade presents. gonna gift them this friday, on my last day, i cant wait!!! (also im starting the re-education for my new future profession next monday (geotechnician/surveyor), cant wait!!)

I just made some more flowers and a little hat. The flowers are removable on her hat. I made her necklace from some old play jewelry and added a clasp.

I used rainbow yarn and added pink claws and horns because the rainbow skein just didn't have a very good pink.

Made each of my family members an owl for last christmas! I started like 2 weeks before Christmas, i was crocheting sooo much every day my hands were BURNING, but all worth it!!

From the excellent "Zoomigurumi 3" book. Highly recommend the whole series, they have lovely patterns for animal amigurumi.

I made this Deviling doll for a friend. We met online on an MMORPG called Ragnarok and this was their favourite creature from the game.

Or, as my sister calls it, that thing old ladies used (notice the past tense) to put on top of the TV. So my new hobby is not just old, is double old! How awesome is that? Am I a hipster now?

Or maybe she just meant flat TVs have finally caught on in the grandmother market...

(Fun fact, this is also my first ever post. When I was on Reddit I didn't even made comments ever. It became kind of a rule I was moderately proud of. Yes, I was a proud lurker, it was like my personality so now I am not a lurker so maybe this means I have no personality any more. Fair trade off I guess?)

Made a change to the strap for the i-cord leash pattern I've been working on. I've been having fun with these as a thing I can quickly throw together in 90 minutes at a bar. It's cheaper to make than a beer too!

The previous version was just a plain i-cord, which felt more stretchy than I was really wanting. Felt alright for more contained spaces, and I love the way it holds for walks. The lack of control from a hard stop felt slightly weird in case a rogue squirrel came by or something though.

This one has a pair of nylon strings going down the middle of the cord. The strings are normally completely hidden, but have them pulled out a bit in one spot here. They're anchored to another d-ring inside the handle knot, and the lead. Takes only a few minutes to weave in, and does wonders for the feel.

The strings are sized longer than the cord they're inside, so it gives a nice 6-12 inches of stretch before going totally rigid

This is the autumn lace-edged granny throw from Herrschners. For various reasons, it's taking me a long time to finish it. I haven't been in the mood to crochet the last few months, but just got the urge to. Hopefully my mojo is back. Or is it cojo?

So maybe three years ago now, I crocheted the Boatneck Top w/ Kimono Drop Sleeve by Kristen Stein and loved every second of it. Took it with me on the bus every morning, made friends with the designer on Instagram, I was SO into this pattern I can't even tell you!

And then after wearing it once, I lost it. Literally no idea how. We've turned the house upside down more than once looking for it, but I finally had to admit it's gone.

So after a lot of procrastination, it's time for v2.0. And I really need to have this done quite quickly because we're going on a cruise in August and I have a TON of stuff I want to make.

Therefore, public accountability post! Started this last night and we're 4 motifs in to a 26-motif top. Since lace looks like nothing until it's blocked I've draped it on the dummy to attempt to give you a clue 😅

I don't know if it's okay to post Mastodon links on a Lemmy instance, but I wanna try it and because I am really proud of this piece, I want to share it with everyone :)

It took almost one week to complete and it was the first time using more than one color.

I'm curious what everyone uses as background noise while crocheting. I've found the only thing I like watching while crocheting is cartoons for some reason, like Bob's Burgers. I know some people watch movies, or listen to audio books but would love to hear some suggestions and get to know everyone.

His pattern is from Zoomigurumi 3 - great book, full of lovely patterns of animal plushies.

Thought I'd share this one as my first post here because it makes me smile every time.

The pattern is Lorelei Cardigan by Deni Sharpe who is one of my favourite crochet designers, her stuff is always fairly simple to make and just looks good.

So I'd made my own mustard yellow version of this and worn it basically every day for a whole year (you can probably see it's a bit worse for wear in this photo, and believe me I've worn it a LOT more since!) and my grandma was very taken with it. Her favourite colour is blindingly bright red, so it was obvious what I had to do.

Most of the red one was made while doing a day-long marathon of the LotR extended editions, and my wrists were sore the next day. But the whole thing worked up pretty quickly and I reckon I managed to get her pockets attached much more securely than I ever did mine, so that's a win!

Needless to say, she loved it. Major granddaughter points right there.

My cats always love to sit nearby when I'm crocheting and it made me think of crocheting a cat toy. Does anyone have any ideas/patterns? Would be great if it could incorporate catnip too!

Decided to try my hand at color work for the first time in crochet. Dreading weaving it all in at the very end, but it looks so pretty so far. I'm excited to give it to my grandma when it's done, I know she's gonna love it! I plan on doing a fancy white border around once its done.

The wife has started to make these amigurumi creatures. Here's her latest two.

She uses worsted weight wool (she tells me) which generally results in bigger creatures.

I love working with this chunky yarn. It's very soft, and works up quickly! It makes for a very plush blanket.

I recently took crocheting back up after a decade, and this is my first finished shawl ever. Two of my friends are getting married in autumn, and they both like to wear shawls so I decided I'd make one for each of them (and if they don't like it, I'm sure their cats will appreciate their new basket liner).

The one at the top is just finished, and is a free pattern Klaziena shawl with Scheepjes brambleberry whirl. The end corners are a bit turned inside, but well, first shawl ever, could've been worse.

This is the second one, Ceylon Tea shawl pattern with Peppermint Patty scheepjes whirl. Still got quite a ways to go, but I'm really loving the pattern!
