Hello everyone,

I have had this knockoff 9211-8i HBA that i bought a while ago on ebay, and it had worked rock solid for around 2 years or so.

That is until i decided to clean out my server, and in the process of doing so, I blew out the F1 fuse on my card. I probed with my multimeter to confirm it basically had infinite resistance, and looking on the internet it seems my issue isn't particularly uncommon.

I own soldering/rework station equipment, and i found a thread of someone who replaced their fuse but when i took a look at the fuse under my camera, it seems like it is not the same as everyone elses fuse. Mine is in a much smaller package that everyone elses.

Another interesting thing to note is that the fuse under the microscope doesnt appear to have any type of damage at all. Pretty odd.

My question is, is anyone able to identify a good fuse to replace it with? Am i overthinking this, and should just replace it with any typical smd fuse?

None of the online streamers have season 16, where would I look for a more independent backup? IA doesn't seem to have anything, at least not any collated archives.

Thx

Planning to buy Seagate Exos x14 drives. Can someone explain why people are doing this? My understaninng reading through was it has something to do with power saving and disabling a feature called EPC? Are there something wrong with the EXOS drives that you need to tune them?

Just want to understand before I make the purchase, thanks!

I am working on a few stories with tons of assets in digital files and I already have a few backups. I am worried about the inevitability of many of the files randomly getting corrupted and losing them forever so the more backups, the merrier.

I have had shockingly horrible experience with NXT, not only for personal use, but since I used to be in IT and we sometimes used NXT for transfers, the thumbdrives stopped working within a week vs every other brand which lasted longer. So any other brands recommended?

In terms of storage, it will get bigger over time but at the moment it probably only needs to be 32 gigs.

I dont quite know if this fits the subreddit and I apologize if not.

Basically, I hoard cool poses for drawing but end up being unable to find the right ones when i need them since my collection is sitting around 30 gigs or so at this point. I need a way to be able to tag and then sort through pictures and screenshots in a similar way to booru sites, but ideally locally. I am not trying to mirror existing booru sites, to be clear: rather i want a better way to sort through my own personal trove of reference images ive downloaded or screenshotted. I used to use stuff like pinterest and etc, but recently they are like 90 percent ai and i feel like i ahve too many cool references i havent even seen since ive saved them. Thanks for your time, and sorry again if this is not relevant to the subreddit

I'm new to archiving, and I've had so much success with archiving a lot from foreign websites for my favourite game, they had their problems but I got the job done, however, this last place - VK.com, really is a special case.

The problem is, there is no proper filtering there, meaning the only way to find old posts is by scrolling all the way down. I didn't think that was a huge problem at first so I started scrolling, but after multiple failed attempts from freezing and crashing, going from browser to android macro scrolling to testing on IOS and then using bluestacks android emulator with optimal settings, I finally reached the end, which was unfortunately capped at 2015 december, when I was trying to find specifically from early 2013.

I know it has to have posts from 2013 because the group was created in 2013. I feel like I was 70% of the way there.

It seems like the issue is that there might be a cap limit set at 10,000 posts or something, before it stops showing results, or some other determining factor. I don't think vk specifically deletes posts that are too old, older posts still exist on other groups.

So my question is, is there anything that I could possibly do to reach the 2013 posts? Maybe I need to try a different browser/app? Maybe it's impossible? Maybe something with API? Maybe inspect element? Lightweight browser? I'm not tech-savvy so I don't really have an idea if there's realistically anything left to try, ChatGPT brought me this far and now I'm out of ideas. I don't know exactly what the limit is supposed to be, is it a specific amount of posts or something else, maybe that would change things.

What would you do if you were me?

Hello!

So I've been a frequent user of the archive warrior virtual machine helping with projects, however today for some reason the appliance failed to load giving a runtime error -102 that the file isn't found. I get the code E_FAIL (0x80004005)

However when I try to reinstall it or import it again I get the following error code:

E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)

anyone know what's going on here? I tried looking for info on this error code but I'm finding different causes and none of them seem to be what's happening here. My VM was working fine yesterday.

Q1 2025

WD121PURP, WD122PURP, WD121KFBX, WD122KFBX, WD122KRYZ(WD121KRYZ is helium) - air sealed 12 tb

WD121PURZ - ?

toshiba, seagate - max air sealed is 10 tb(not all versions, many 10 tb are helium, check datasheets)

The more old hdd release date - the bigger chance to get helium sealed version

I've just learned that T10-PI/DIF for SAS drives is not the only kid on the block and that SATA crowd has their own implementation - T13.

With simplified features to match SATA implementation, but much the same principles - have each sector on the HDD have a small extension, where host/HBA can store sector hash and check it during the read.

This way, HOST can check for silent drive errors, when drive goes berserk and start spewing garbage without reporting an error, so RAID-5/6 corrective mechanisms never get triggered. And even if RAID-5/6 host knew there is an error, it couldn't correct it without knowing which drive has gone m/b/ad. Hash check solves that at low level.

But I wonder how widely is T13 implemented. Which SATA HDD lines support it ? Which HBA and RAID cards support it ? Can Linux OS work with it ? Does Linux SW-raid support it ?

Hey everyone,

I’m wondering if any fellow Canadians have ordered from SPD recently. How was your experience with customs and duty fees? I’m expecting to pay the usual sales taxes, but with the recent tariff changes, I’m a bit concerned about any unexpected charges.

If you could share any additional fees you encountered, I’d really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to separate this Hdd from the caddy... I managed to remove one, effortlessly, but bo luck with the other 3. They are glued with red threadlocker. I already tried to heat them using a soldering iron (TS100), bit nothing. Any suggestions? I was thinking to saw a line and use a minus screwdriver or destroying the caddy and try to rotate using a plier, but I want to avoid to break the screw inside.

I have a 1 to 4 SATA splitter that looks like this one:

https://preview.redd.it/gzvd4fjtllxe1.jpg?width=1300&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=00e03769f8f84090fb995ff5b4544f4ac2b5c7a4

Are these considered molded SATA cables, i.e., the ones that are known to cause fires? Or does that only apply to MOLEX to SATA cables?

EDIT: Thanks for replies, will use a different cable.

Currently have PSU cable that is 3x SATA and 1x MOLEX in series. Instead of attaching a 1->4 SATA splitter to one of the SATA connectors I'll use this crimped MOLEX TO SATA and attach that at the end, so that cable can handle up to 7 drives

Was at a conference last week, and these guys were offering 100TB for free for a year. So obviously, I had to check it out. High level review below.
