TLDR: This is for a data tool, I am not suggesting it currently has data from all hospitals. I only added a few hospitals around my local area. It can take a few hours or more to import ONE file. If you would like your hospital included, message on site with link to their JSON/CSV files and I'll add to list.

Original Post:

U.S. hospitals are required to publish price transparency data, usually as very large machine-readable JSON files. They technically comply, but the data is difficult to explore or understand.

I’ve been tinkering with a small project that parses these files and turns them into a searchable dataset showing exactly what hospitals publish: negotiated rates by payer and plan for the same procedure. These are not estimates or averages like most hospital bill websites, this is actual data.

I’m not a programmer by trade, just piddling and learning as I go, so I’d genuinely appreciate any constructive comments or suggestions on data structure, parsing, or presentation.

I’m also experimenting with adding RVUs for comparison and later Medicare physician fee schedule data, which is separate from hospital facility pricing.
