Overview:

Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

Tesla has confirmed its latest bait-and-switch: Cybertruck owners will not get the Autosteer feature they paid for.

Instead, they will get a year of ‘Supervised Full Self-Driving’.

When Tesla started delivering the Cybertruck in late 2023, the software was incomplete, especially regarding its Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) features like ‘Supervised (FSD) Full Self-Driving’, which was included in the price of all early Cybertrucks.

It took Tesla almost a year to start releasing its FSD on the Cybertruck.

After Tesla stopped making new Cybertruck Foundation Series, which are fully loaded with all options, buyers started to have the option of buying the $8,000 FSD package or keeping only the Autopilot package, which is included in the price.

Autopilot’s two main features are Traffic Aware Cruise Control and Autosteer. The first is self-explanatory, while Autosteer is Tesla’s name for active lane keeping.

The vast majority of Tesla vehicle owners don’t buy the FSD package.

As of now, 16 months after Tesla started delivering the Cybertruck, the automaker has yet to deliver Autosteer on the electric pickup truck.

Today, Tesla started reaching out to Cybertruck owners to let them know that it won’t make Autosteer available for Cybertruck owners who haven’t bought FSD:

“As we improve our Autopilot technology, our feature sets will change. Accordingly, Autosteer will not be available for Cybertruck outside of Full Self-Driving (Supervised).“

Instead, Tesla offers a year of free FSD trial to Cybertruck owners.

More details in the article.

My favorite part is how they're now saying both "full self-driving' and "supervised".

So they get to keep the money on their books and use it to inflate numbers and invest and then cancel the product and give it back without any compensation? This seems incredibly fraudulent.

We've spent some time testing EV specific tires (or tyres) over the years, and one question that's come up again and again relates to off-road capable tires for larger EVs like pickup trucks and SUVs. > > > > General wisdom says that the more aggressive the tread and more capable the off-road tire is, the less efficient and useful it is on the road. > > > > But can there be an EV-friendly off-road tire that offers both? In Malaysia, the EV will be known as the TQ Wuling Bingo. Being a Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) vehicle, this means that Bingo EV can be sold here at a much lower price than RM100,000 floor price than the government currently imposed on fully imported Completely Built-Up (CBU) EVs.

I snagged a 2025 Ioniq 5 to replace my 2021 Chevy Bolt yesterday and already put 150 miles on it. I'm kind of blown away and wanted to share some things that stood out.

  1. The car is wide. Much wider than the Bolt. Gonna take some getting used to.
  2. Not sure how I lived without a power lift gate until now. It was great when loading laundry and groceries into the trunk.
  3. The driver seat can lay completely flat - flatter than the zero gravity mode that you may have seen. Perfect for napping while waiting at the laundromat, and I'm looking forward to trying it while car camping.
  4. You can pull the car forward and backwards with the keyfob while standing outside of it. Already used it twice - once to pull out of a tight parking spot, once to center myself after street parking a bit crooked.
  5. The surround view is incredible. It made parallel parking an absolute breeze.
  6. Autopilot is scary but works. I was only brave enough to use it on the highway with no other cars around.
  7. Auto-parking doesn't seem to work very well, but I'll have to play around with it.

Overall I'm super happy with the car and keep looking for excuses to go somewhere. Happy to answer any questions.
