I was way wrong dooming on Galeshot. It looks absolutely dope.

How do you think it plays out in PvP? Who comes out ahead in the WvW roaming sniper duel? Deadeye or Galeshot?

How do you see it playing in grouped PvE content with boon stack?

Just a quick shout-out to the folks who helped me complete my Fractal Adept achievement today. The fractal wasn't even one of the dailies, but you all came in and helped me finish the task despite the fact. You even refused the gold I offered. Thank you, and I hope I can pay your kindness forward in the future!

I've owned Guild Wars 2 since it came out years ago, but never really got into it. I played through the main story that was out, rarely logged in to claim the living world seasons (I think only 2 of them?), and pretty much didn't touch the game.

I picked up the first 3 expansions as a bundle sale at some point and played for a while before taking another beak. Then Janthir Wilds came out and I got SotO on sale and have been putting in a lot more hours since.

Anyway, the point of that is that I technically have a really old account, but not a single legendary in my collection despite having 300 mastery points (I really like collecting these) and a couple hundred hours of the game.

I saw the obsidian legendary gear and started working on that and considered also working on my first legendary weapon since I use mesmer with greatsword and Sunrise is in the starter kit. Then I test how long it felt to get a Gift of Battle and went "Nah, I'll just work on the armor for now." Then Anet did this WvW rush event, I got a Gift of Battle in about 1 hour of play and purchased the Starter Kit for the first time.

Here is the main reason I am making this post. I thought the starter kit would just bring up a store interface to exchange it for the weapon kit of your choice, but no, it does something far cooler. The kit teleports you to this amazing looking magic space vault with a huge platform at the center. You then talk to a person and they generate a version of your character wielding each of the 4 legendary weapons on the platform. This was way beyond my expectations and is so epic feeling and useful that I really want to say thanks to Anet for creating this.

Not only can you see what each weapon will clearly look like with you wielding it, you can ask your clones to draw/stow it and walk around with it. Absolutely amazing polish for this system that could have just been "use this item in your inventory to get another item". Thank you for this really cool experience!

~~Now I just need to farm ectos and materials for Gift of Might~~

Just curious what options are there that folks enjoy playing as. I generally play as power spec characters, but im unsure what classes make the most of landspear shenanigans.

just finishing soto before jw, so i can britneybitch it up with my spears! also working on making kotaki legendary so was curious... just short on ectos and clovers now.

inputs very much welcome!

that said, im so happy as i unlocked eternity after building sunrise yesterday. heehee. happy gaming to all!

Hey, im new and kind of overwhelmed by all the core classes and the elite specs that i've seen on youtube.

Is there a class that isn't too complex, has decent apm and is similiar to one of the playstyles mentioned above?

I only have the base game, but i don't mind getting a expansion after i invested enough time. If there are youtube videos that are targeted for melee players(and newbies), i wouldn't mind checking them out as well.

Thanks for reading!

EDIT: Wow, I didn't expect this. Im overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of indepth answers and generally, the willingness to help someone new. What a great community.

So, what i liked in FFXIV (with Dragoon Shadowbringer/Endwalker era) was primarily the general thematic of big armor, big weapon and the jumping around. Mechanically, i liked having some linear rotation with filling the bar and then entering a "burst mode", where you spammed your most important attacks. Besides that long and linear rotation, i liked the (ffxiv specific mechanic) of weaving in ogcds like the forementioned jumps.

For retribution Paladin in wow, it was the hybrid playstyle of being able to dispel and buff/protect, coupled in with a basic rotation of building holy power and spending it, especially when popping my burst. I loved the spammy feel it gave. Purely from aesthetics, i enjoyed the fantasy of bein a holy knight/warrior. Thats why i choose Dragoon in FFXIV for example. I find Warriors with a interesting twist (dragonic powers or holy powers as example) interesting, since i like to immerse myself in the world.

I read some of the comments and it seems that Guardian (with willbender or dragonhunter) or revenant (vindicator) could fit thematically. Reaper looked interesting as well (since i played some of it in FFXIV).

Im open minded regarding Guild Wars 2 combat style, so its not a necessity that they replicate in any form those examples that i mentioned here. But i needed to give me some framework from where to start, so i dont procrastinate trying out this fascinate looking game.

(Troubadour, Galeshot, Luminary) regarding the first three Elite Spec reveals, how would you rank them from Most interesting to Least interested?
