Hello Reddit!
I’ve spent over 9,000 hours in GW2, and I know many of these suggestions aren’t new — the community has brought up several of these ideas over the years. This isn’t about reinventing the wheel, but rather compiling and refreshing existing feedback with a focus on polish, cohesion, and long-term quality-of-life. The goal is to highlight changes that could meaningfully improve the experience for both veterans and newer players alike.
DOWN-STATE:
- Prioritize bandage skill over Jade Bot Rescue Protocol to allow manual control when downed.
WARCLAW:
- Add a toggle to disable damage on dodge.
- Fix a bug (?) where the interact key dismounts the player without completing the action like it does in other mounts (e.g. gathering).
FISHING:
- Skiff Invulnerability: Skiffs should be untargetable. There’s no reason for hostile mobs to be able to interrupt the experience.
- Auto Anchor Functionality: The anchor skill should automatically slow down, stop, and anchor the Skiff, making the process seamless.
- Dedicated Storage for Baits & Lures: Baits and lures should go into a separate bag slot (or a large specialized one) exclusively for these items to improve inventory management.
- Persistent Skiff Party Buffs: Fishing is intended to be a relaxing activity. Losing the Skiff party buff due to minor things like dismounting or mob aggro adds unnecessary stress. Please allow the buff to persist even after dismounting or engaging with minor threats.
HOMESTEAD:
- Allow players to access the Homestead from more game instances (excluding Raids, Fractals, Strikes, and Story content where it could affect balance).
- Enable a template system for decorations so players can save and quickly swap between themed layouts like Wintersday, Halloween, or Jumping Puzzles.
- Add a visual preview option for decorations before crafting
- Offer a fully flat map layout or allow removal of the pre-built house, giving players complete creative control over the Homestead’s structure and terrain.
- Revisit the crafting costs of certain decoration recipes to make them more accessible and fair.
- Add more decoration recipes as rewards from open world events, bosses, or instanced content to incentivize exploration.
- Fix the misalignment of the Wintersday tree in the Homestead.
- Allow players to choose their fishing holes either daily or weekly for greater flexibility in managing Homestead fishing activities.
- Let players choose their own Homestead theme music from unlocked tracks to personalize the ambiance (like Guild Halls).
- Add the Homestead to the main world map with a waypoint for instant travel out of it (like Mistlock Sanctuary)
- Introduce the option to place a permanent portal to the Homestead inside the Guild Hall, allowing guildmates to freely visit each other’s Homesteads and creating a neighborhood-style experience.
SKILLS UI:
- Display All Profession Skills Clearly: Ensure that all class skills—including profession ones like Firebrand’s F1-F3, Celestial Avatar, etc.—are shown in the appropriate menus (Slot Skills). This improves clarity and accessibility for both new and experienced players.
GEN 1 LEGENDARY CRAFTING:
- Rebalance Gen 1 Precursor Collections: IMO, these collections offer some of the best narrative and gameplay content in the game. However, the extremely high cost makes them unattractive compared to buying the precursors directly from the Trading Post. Reducing the cost would incentivize more players to engage with this excellent content.
MYSTIC FORGE:
- Add a Recipe Book: Introduce a UI that displays all known Mystic Forge recipes.
TRAINING AREA:
- Add a bot that provides Nourishments and Enchantments while the player remains in the instance. This would allow for accurate and consistent build and rotation testing without requiring players to use their own consumables.
- Introduce a system that allows players to save their preferred configurations for buffs, golem settings, and conditions. This makes it easier to return to specific testing scenarios quickly without reconfiguring everything each time.
RELICS:
- Improved Relic Visuals: Relics like Relic of Peitha need better visual indicators. The current sword icon above the target is often difficult to see in combat clutter. Consider using more distinct icons, color coding, or HUD indicators to improve clarity.
BOONS & CONDITIONS (Tracking):
- Boss Boons & Conditions Anchoring: Bosses with unique or high-impact boons/conditions should have those effects anchored to a consistent, easy-to-spot position on the UI—separate from the standard buff spam bar.
- Player Boon/Condition Anchoring: Give players the option to anchor key boons or conditions (like Quickness, Alacrity, Stability, Confusion, etc.) to a specific UI location. This would greatly improve situational awareness in fast-paced content.
RAIDS / STRIKES:
- Allow players to open raid instances directly at specific boss encounters. This would make practice runs, teaching, and progression efforts more accessible and less time-consuming.
- Instead of having Emboldened on rotation, allow it to be toggled on or off for any raid wing. This flexibility will encourage more new players to try raids and let veterans assist without being limited by weekly rotations.
- Introduce titles, achievements, and rewards for helping new players clear full raids in all wings. This encourages community mentoring, reduces gatekeeping, and improves the overall raiding experience for everyone (like Wing 8 mentorship achievments).
ARMORY & TEMPLATES:
- Dedicated Sigil Slot System Allow Legendary Sigils to be equipped in independent slots, not bound to individual weapons. This way, when weapons are swapped within templates, sigils remain consistent—improving both build clarity and usability.
- Default Stat Presets for Legendary Gear Let players define a default stat combination (e.g., Berserker) for each slot or template. Any unequipped Legendary piece will automatically use this preset unless manually changed. This greatly reduces friction when swapping gear in multi-role builds and streamlines play.
- Linked Keybind for Equipment + Build Template Swap Add a keybind or quick action that allows players to simultaneously switch both Build and Equipment Templates. This would be especially useful in high-pressure PvE or WvW content, where fast role-switching is needed (e.g., DPS to Heal), or for players who run multiple playstyles and want a seamless toggle.
LORE & WORLD BUILDING:
The current system has several issues:
Non-sequential Discovery: Players often find lore entries out of order, across different playthroughs or characters, making it hard to follow the intended narrative flow.
Time Pressure During Events: Some lore pages are located in event-heavy or meta areas, where reading on the spot is impractical due to time constraints or incoming threats.
Lost Opportunities for Immersion: Without a persistent way to revisit these stories, much of the incredible world-building risks being overlooked or forgotten.
Add a Lore Codex (Lore Book System) Introduce a centralized Lore Codex — a dedicated in-game journal that automatically saves all discovered lore pages, notes, and books. Since End of Dragons, the game world has become rich with scattered lore pieces found across maps: books, inscriptions, dialogues, and notes that paint a vivid picture of Tyria’s history and culture.
A Lore Book system would solve all of this by:
-
Letting players collect and re-read lore at their own pace
-
Organizing entries chronologically or by theme
-
Ensuring that lore is preserved even across alts or game sessions
-
Expanded Feature – Character Compendium:
The Codex could also include a section dedicated to noteworthy NPCs, allies, and major characters the player has encountered. This would:
-
Serve as a reference for key figures in Tyria’s narrative
-
Track major relationships and character arcs
-
Deepen emotional investment by giving players context about their allies
Bonus Point: There are already over 30 collectible books in the game, and while they currently take up bank space, they are full of beautifully written stories. Letting players store them digitally would enhance both immersion and inventory management.
KEYBIND MANAGEMENT – CHARACTER-BASED AUTO IMPORT/EXPORT:
- Add the ability to automatically import/export keybinds based on the character being logged into. Many players use different roles across characters (e.g., support on one, DPS on another) and may prefer different keybinds for utilities, mounts, or profession skills. Automatically loading the correct keybind profile when switching characters would streamline gameplay and eliminate the need for manual reconfiguration.
- Include the option to link specific keybind sets to characters or specs, while still allowing for a default global profile. This ensures flexibility for players who prefer consistency as well as those with highly tailored setups.
POST-ENCOUNTER PERFORMANCE SUMMARY – SMART FEEDBACK SYSTEM
- Introduce a Performance Summary System that gives players a private breakdown of their personal performance after a Strike Mission, Raid, or Fractal. The goal is to offer encouraging, informative, and non-toxic feedback to help players improve and understand their role without promoting shame...
