I used to think I was being smart by not “wasting money” on duplicates. But then I realized I was spending way more energy and honestly, ruining my own mood over stuff like forgetting my only phone charger at home, or misplacing my one pair of decent headphones.

Now I keep a charger by my bed, one in my backpack, and one at work. I have two umbrellas, one in my car, one by the door. I keep two sets of earbuds, an extra stick of deodorant in my bag, even a second nail clipper in my drawer at work. It’s not about being fancy. It’s about removing those tiny, unnecessary stresses that throw off your whole day. The cost of buying a few spares is nothing compared to the peace of mind it brings. You’re not forgetful you just haven’t set yourself up to win yet. If something always stresses you out when it’s missing, don’t beat yourself up. Just buy an extra. I promise it’s one of the easiest life upgrades you’ll ever make.

I used to let all these tiny little things pile up, stuff like putting a dish in the sink, replying to a quick text, or tossing junk mail. On their own, they felt like nothing. But together, they created this weird background noise in my brain, like this low level stress that just hung around all the time.

One day I told myself, if something takes less than two minutes, I’m doing it right now. No “I’ll get to it later,” no debating. Just get up and do it.

And honestly, it made such a difference. My space feels clearer, but more than that, my mind does too. I don’t feel buried in tiny to dos anymore, and that’s helped me stop procrastinating on bigger stuff too. It’s like once the little clutter is gone, the bigger tasks don’t feel as heavy.

It’s such a small shift, but it gave me this weird sense of calm I didn’t expect. If you’re feeling stuck or mentally foggy, give it a try for a day. Just do the small stuff as it comes. It helped me more than I thought it would.

Anyone else ever tried this and noticed the same thing?

I've struggled with feeling burnt out quite a lot in my life. Whether it's studying or working for long hours, when you do it for months or years, you might eventually feel burnt out especially if you do not love what you do (which statistically speaking, is the case for most people).

for me personally, having hobbies that are intellectually or physically taxing has helped a lot. Around a year ago, I started doing BJJ (I've been so bad at it thus I get hit a lot). It's been quite difficult to the extent that my actual job/studying materials seems easier. But at least when work is not going well, I'm like oh but I'm getting better at BJJ (at least I'm getting better at something). That mindset really aided me not to associate my entire identity/life with work.

Or it can be even reading books that make you think a lot or even movies. I guess hobbies would help us get through tough times. Now I'm at a state that I always make time for exercise, movies and books. They are as important to me as work.

What do you think guys? what's your experience with "burnt out" phase? how did you get through it?

Currently a bystander to my retired Grandmother who is getting hit back to back with big house expenses that could have been avoided, and is now back in debt.

Too often the finish line for retirement comes, and yet known house expenses aren’t resolved; HVAC units nearing end of life, old roof, original appliances, an ancient hot water heater… they’re all begging to throw a wrench in your nest egg when you least expect it, and sometimes multiple at a time.

Before you retire and say goodbye to a steady income, update all big expected house expenses while you can. Only then once they’re upgraded should you hang your hat and enjoy being a retiree.

Avoid the avoidable!

Using the hydrogen peroxide instead of water during the ironing process (using an external spray bottle, not the iron's water reservoir) allows the heat and hydrogen peroxide to denature the proteins in the blood and break it down.

Use the iron's hottest setting that the clothing piece can tolerate, and spray the hydrogen peroxide liberally over the stained area. Some recommend using a rag to work it in, but for me it was effective without doing so.

i keep one basket by the door and another in my bedroom for the random limbo items, stuff that doesn’t have a set place or just needs to land somewhere for now.

it’s saved my surfaces from clutter overload.

As a bunch of us are dealing with heat waves and it’s only June, I have some tips for you to apply to your home cooling.

  1. Change out your HVAC filter to a lower MERV filter now. The high merv allergen filters reduce air flow and to be honest, you really need the hvac system to push as much air flow to keep the house cool.
  2. Clean out the furnace condensate trap / safety float if you haven’t done it already. The condenser cools down the air, which takes out moisture and also dust. The dust settles in the trap but if it clogs the trap it turns the switch off and furnace turns off. This is a common hvac problem. Clean it out- there are lots of instructions online.
  3. If your upper levels are way too hot and your basement way too cool- get a booster fan for your register vents upstairs. 💨 it boosts the air flow up towards the upper levels keeping them much cooler than they would be otherwise. If you need a link- I will try to find one and post in the comments.
  4. If you have ceiling fans, make sure they are on and turning so that the air from the flow wants to move down from the ceiling. Keep them on all the time.
  5. If you haven’t had AC check up in a few years, it is good practice to get it done. When doing so, go outside and ask to take a picture of the capacitor. These things break and are an easy fix- so it’s good to have one around (Edit to add- so that if it does break the HVAC guy can just install it that day when it does break.) The maintenance plan will also clean your coils and do other things so you can learn more about your hvac and save the hassle of being in a sweltering house.

Instead of stating your opinion as a fact, turn it into a question.

For example:

Instead of saying “This house is red,”

say “Isn’t this house red?”

That way, you're giving the other person a chance to reflect, not just react. It doesn’t come across as pushy or confrontational — it feels more like a shared observation. People are much more likely to agree or reconsider their own view when they don’t feel challenged directly.

That should work for every topic.

Original Title: LPT If you are trying to get ahold of customer service at large company and they have extremely disappointing and frustrating AI chat bots you have to go through, always call their sales department. They will always pickup because they want to take your money.

Edit: I usually say something along the lines of, “Hey thank you for picking up! I was hoping to buy expand/etc my plan/item but before doing so I have a problem that needs to be fixed (or a question answered)”

The ceramic is better at retaining heat and it will cook the food more evenly, keep it warm once on the table and generally looks and feels a lot nicer, almost like restaurant quality.

One simple trick that helped me through university and into a highly paid research position is to force me to have pauses, especially during days in which I had to study 8-9 hours in preparation to a big exam.

Focus Is faiding, especially on very stressed days, that's because your body triggers the fight or flight response and you are full of cortisol getting distracted by any noise (It could be a potential danger to your primitive instinct).

Then, the more you need to stay on the books for 8 hours, the more you will be easily distracted.

To avoid this you have to trick your brain into being "ok". My method Is to take a pause every hour in which I do something unrelated: take a walk, Paint a miniature, play some videogame, have a call with a friend.. etc. These pauses aren't fixed in minutes, just the maximum Is 1 hour.

At worst, in a day from 10 am to 10 pm, you have studied 6 hours and had fun for the other 6.

Walking or exercising Is best at the beginning because It can help you break physical stress and helps you sleep better.

Hope this helps you!

Always plan to be 10 minutes early, especially for the important stuff. So if you’re delayed by traffic or something else, you’ll still be on time. And it gives you an extra minute when you arrive to check your look in the mirror and collect yourself before you walk in.

We tend to think getting better equipment will automatically be better then old one with worst specs. It often is, but don’t forget you might got used to your current equipment through tons of usage, so it is normal for the new equipment to work worth for a short period of time.

This goes for everything, computer, instruments, mechanical tools, pencils.

Your performance curve will drop before it actually gets better with your new equipment, so don’t toss it away after using it once and feeling worst then your current equipment.

No im not trying to do marketing for more expensive stuff, but if you bought a high quality guitar with tons of great reviews, coming from a random noname one, but you don’t feel that improves your music, it’s A) you are out of your comfort zone and B) Still need to learn to use all the the quality features yet.

Too often I've seen people say they don't want to do something because they aren't good at it. 'I'd like to draw but I'm so bad at it', 'I'd like to pick up golf but I'm so bad at it', 'I'm not good at math, it's too hard', 'I'm not a good runner' and so on.

Well, guess what - no one is born being amazing at stuff. Sure there is some difference in genetic ability but most of the reason people are good at something is due to them doing it. They start out bad at it, and then over time get better at it. Even Olympic swimmers at one point didn't know how to swim. You may not ever win golds, but you can certainly get better at almost anything than most people - and that path starts out (but doesn't end) at 'bad at it'.

So if there's something you'd like to do, or achieve, or try, or learn but you don't want to because you 'aren't any good at it', just remember that everyone starts out bad at stuff and then they get good over time.

Give yourself the chance to get good at something by being bad at something first. Celebrate being bad at stuff, knowing that you will, via practice, become less bad and eventually even good.

Similarly, support people who are bad at stuff, and encourage them to stick with it and improve.

Ever have your dog stare longingly at a couch knowing you're going to have to get up, move the couch, and retrieve the toy for them, only for them to push it under again five minutes later? (not just sofas, chairs, beds, loveseats, armoires, etc.)

Create a bumper with a resistance band. Cheap ones ( >$10) from Amazon can be easily found for a 6-pack of them, and toys will magically stay accessible.

Works for kids toys too!

We feel safe, familiar, and easy - but staying too long keeps us from discovering our potential. Growth begins where comfort ends. The real magic happens when you take risks, face fear, and stretch beyond what feels easy. Step out, even if it’s just a little - that’s where change lives.

If God forbid the worst happens and you were to pass away, your minor children will inherit your estate without a Will. Minors cannot inherit money until they reach the age of majority, and a financial guardian must be appointed, which will naturally be that Ex you just divorced if you do not spell out in a Will who that person should be. Now let’s take this further to when you remarry. If you and your new spouse own property together and have not yet done your Estate Planning, your minor children could inherit some portion of the house you live in. Can you imagine your Ex being in charge of your minor child’s assets then? Different states have different rules. If you have minor children please see an attorney and get your Will prepared and executed ASAP.

I have been struggling with dry eyes at night after long hours on computer screen, then at somepoint I yawned and my eyes produced a very satisfying amount of tears. Now everytime I have dry eyes I just yawn and the problem is gone.

Happy yawning for you all, Thank you for your attention on this matter.

There was a time where I was desperate to fall asleep but my mind was racing. I said f it I’m rocking myself to sleep like I’m a baby. I’m a side/back sleeper so I turned on my left side and rocked myself back and forth and when I got tired. Stopped and pretty much fell asleep a few minutes later.
