I just installed Mullvad on my home computer. On my home computer I have a media server installed that I can access from the outside on 443/https and also ssh on which I rdp via tunnel, from outside. When I connect Mullvad VPN, services cannot be reached anymore. I enabled LAN sharing but nothing changes.

How can I solve this?

Maybe this is something related to port forwarding that is not allowed and I have no chance?

Thanks for help

When checking the Reliability Monitor on my Windows 11 notebook, I discovered that mullvad-daemon.exe is crashing every time the PC boots.

Is this a known issue? What should I do to fix this?

Pardon if this has already been asked and answered, I've tried looking everywhere but I feel I must be misunderstanding something since I can't find anything at all.

I'm running DD-WRT on my Netgear R6400 (I wanted to use OpenWRT but my router isn't supported) and I have a wireguard tunnel set up with Mullvad. I used this guide, but I think it's a little dated, for a different router, and it had me put in commands that I have no idea what their purpose is (I know, dumb move).

What I'm wanting to do is configure VPN settings like DAITA and Quantum-resistant tunnels. Is it even possible? The Mullvad guides list commands to set them up for Windows, Linux, etc. I'm assuming I'd want to use the Linux commands but would that work if I entered them in the command field in the DD-WRT UI? How would I even know if it worked?

Would it be something I'd want to SSH into?

I’ve been trying to get Mullvad running on a device with Fire OS 6.x. I managed to download and install an older APK version, but I keep encountering an error when it tries to generate the key. Has anyone faced this issue or found a workaround to get Mullvad working properly on Fire OS? Any help would be appreciated!

I will be going to China next month for about 3 weeks, and I’m seeing that there are many options for VPNs, with some saying that it’s best to keep multiple on hand in case one fails. I’m trying to not sign up for so many VPNs all at once, in case one happens to work the whole time for me.

My questions is, do I need to top up the Mullvad account before I enter China? I know I will need to download the app beforehand, but do I also need to top up and activate it beforehand too? Or can I wait to see if I need it, and then top up and activate it inside China?

Now that Mullvad has partnered with Obscura will Mullvad be adding support for Obscura's custom obstruction protocol? I'm asking if they will add this to Mullvad and the Mullvad app.

My device is quite old so the os version required for the newest mullvad version is not available to me.

Is it fine to continue using an un-updated version, because I've noticed that most changes (correct me if im wrong) seem to be QOL or minor bug fixes.

I've also noticed that eventually it will say it's an 'unsupported' version if left un-updated long enough... could someone tell me what that actually means?

Would it still be safe to use an unsupported version of mullvad?

I have both kill switch and lockdown mode enabled in the settings. When I update my packages with sudo dnf upgrade and Mullvad gets updated, I notice that during the update, the padlock icon in the system tray becomes unlocked and the red unsecure color instead of the usual green and locked icon. It made me wonder if my real IP becomes seen if I have tabs on my web browser open during the update, because it looks like killswitch and/or lockdown mode gets disabled for that brief couple of seconds

OS: Fedora KDE 41

I'm connected on both my iphone and mac (most recent updates), and was just testing things. On my iphone, i went to google maps app, and sure enough it's the Gulf of America. On my chrome browser on my desktop, it's same. On the Mullvad browser, set out of the country, it's Gulf of Mexico.

On my mac: Does this mean the VPN only recognizes my out of country location if I'm using the Mullvad browser?

On my phone, is the google app circumventing the VPN? App says it's connected. (Find my shows my location in the US, as an FYI.)

As my son says, I'm a noob. Stumbling along wanting to protect as much of my privacy as I can.

Thank you!

The version of mullvad that came out before the most recent is causing the mullvad-daemon to randomly use 400% cpu and block the internet. It happens when connecting to mullvad for any reason, and rarely just happens out of nowhere. When trying to install the most recent version it says "You cannot install Mullvad VPN in this location. The Mullvad VPN installer does not allow it's software to be installed here." I've been using Mullvad for years and never had an issue installing. The only fix I found was to allow the installer some permissions but I can't select the installer to allow them.

I noticed Netflix doesn't work on some Mullvad IPs(play option is disabled) and I have to change to another IP to watch content.

Why is that?

Good day,

I am a linux user. I have the App always on and sitting in the icon tray to easily connect and disconnect. I always connect through different countries depending on what services I want to use through the VPN.

I would like to propose adding bookmarks to the standalone App as well as the icon tray app I already use, so that each time I don't have to go trough the process of picking a new country, new city and new exit server.

Thank you very much.

Hi, first time using a VPN. I want to connect to Albania (no ads on youtube) but sometimes, I still have ads and when I check my location on another website, it says UK. Even after a few reloads, it remains in UK. Am I missing anything ?

Just saw the announcement today and it made me wonder, isn't adding one more hop before Mullvad, just gets us one step closer to Tor, but with two paid hops instead of three free ones on Tor?

I have an issue with Mullvad VPN dropping the connection every now and then. It’s happening about once an hour. The dropout lasts for 10-20 seconds. Makes me think, it’s now Microsoft’s and others checking what I’m doing. Anyone else having this issues?

Link: https[://]mullvad[.]net/en/blog/mullvad-partnered-with-obscura-vpn

Today we are announcing a partnership with Obscura VPN, a newly launched two-party VPN service that uses our WireGuard VPN servers as its “exit hop”.

This partnership starts on 11th Feburary 2025, with apps for macOS being available from this date on Obscura VPNs website.

While connected through Obscura, your traffic first passes through Obscura’s servers before exiting to the Internet via Mullvad’s WireGuard servers. This two-party architecture ensures that neither Obscura nor Mullvad can see both your identity and your Internet traffic.

Obscura users can verify that their traffic is sent encrypted to a Mullvad server by comparing their server’s WireGuard public key (shown on the Obscura App’s “Location” page) against those published on our server page(https[://]mullvad[.]net/servers).

Obscura also features a custom obfuscation protocol based on QUIC that mimics HTTP/3 traffic to bypass firewalls and censorship.

This service is separate from Mullvad VPN.

Read more on Obscura VPN’s website.

Internet blocking. You can't start a tunnel connection. Send a problem report.

First connect to the VPN after starting the Mac, you will not be able to connect to the VPN after that.

There was a problem after the app update, and the way to connect to the VPN is to reinstall the app or reboot the Mac.

But even if you do this, you can't be connected again if you turn it off.

Anyone who has the same problem as me after the app update on the Mac?

It would be amazing if there was images, news, videos pages for it. Because right now it's a little bit annoying since I have to switch from Leta to duckduckgo whenever I want to search for an image

Hi, Is there any supported easy to use clients for Mullvad VPN other then the Mullvad VPN, WireGuard and OpenVPN apps that include built-in SSH tunneling and other obfuscation methods.

It's not a huge deal, but Mullvad has started to drop connection at random points recently. It automatically reconnects, which is usually relatively quick, but Mullvad blocking the internet while I'm not connected occasionally leads to some irritating hiccups.

It started in 2025.2 and I recently upgraded to 2025.3 and found it still happening.

Is there something I'm doing wrong on my end, or is this just a known bug that hasn't been solved yet?

Just wondering when I hover my mouse cursor over my WiFi icon on my laptop, why it says connected (to my WiFi network and only says "internet access" under where it says Mullvad. I can confirm that my ip is being changed by Mullvad, so it is working. Just wondering why this is what I explained. Because always before it would say "Internet access" under my home network and "connected" under Mullvad. I'm not complaining as I love Mullvad! I always connects on start up (unlike every other VPN I've tried. And I feel I does it's job and I feel safe. I also like supporting Mullvad cause. Thank for the help in advance.

Is it better to use Mullvad owned servers or does it not matter?

I'm a long-time Mullvad customer and a staunch believer in their business model and VPN service.

Not sure when this started but I'm guessing 3-6 months ago at least. I've noticed a worsening behavior where the server I'm connected to becomes slower and slower until it becomes intolerable. Eventually, I'm forced to switch to a different server and all is well again until it too becomes slower and slower. And so on.

Why is this happening? Is this a feature or a bug? Why are Mullvad users forced to suffer this indignity, frustration and inconvenience? (to be fair, I'm otherwise a very happy user)

I can only assume Mullvad is not growing/enhancing their server infrastructure fast enough to meet customer demand. If so, they need to ramp it up!

Is it just me? Anyone else out there also noticing this problem?
