Hello, I use the Linux GUI app on Arch Linux.

I want to enable ipv6 in the app, but I want to make sure I'm configuring ipv6 privacy extensions correctly.

The archwiki says to add:

net.ipv6.conf.nic.use_tempaddr = 2

To:

/etc/sysctl.d/40-ipv6.conf/etc/sysctl.d/40-ipv6.conf

Where "nic" is the "Network Interface Card"

When I type "ip link" into my terminal, I get a few network cards, as well as wg0-mullvad. Should I add wg0-mullvad, which I believe is the wireguard interface, to the config file? I'm asking because it isn't explicitly a network card, as it's a vpn interface.

I have tried streaming sports live and it works without Mullvad however it stops as soon as I activate Mullvad. I reset Mullvad to default settings and issue remains. Any idea on how to resolve?

Both using the Jetbrains toolbox or trying to access https://oauth.account.jetbrains.com/ fails when using Mullvad/DNS. Anybody knows how to fix it? It's very inconvenient.

Split Tunneling doesn't fix it, so I imagine it's a DNS issue.

my VPS doesn't use a VPN, but I use Mullvad on my PC. when Mullvad is connected, I can't SSH into my remote server. here's the debug output:

debug3: ssh_connect_direct: entering debug1: Connecting to [REMOTE_IP_ADDRESS] port 53. debug3: set_sock_tos: set socket 3 IP_TOS 0x48 debug1: connect to address [REMOTE_IP_ADDRESS] port 53: Connection refused ssh: connect to host [REMOTE_IP_ADDRESS] port 53: Connection refused

split tunneling the terminal works, but my hotel Wi-Fi blocks SSH connections, so I need to hide it through Mullvad. enabling 'local network sharing' in Mullvad doesn't help (not sure if that's even relevant since I'm connecting to a remote server). how can I SSH while using Mullvad?

Note: i use wireguard (automatic port) over shadowsocks (443 port).

I see a lot of people had issues with the latest update and were able to fix it by downgrading. This didn't work for me. Didn't remove any settings files. I'm just stuck in an infinite "Connecting" loop.

Edit: I uninstalled. Removed setting files. Rebooted. Tried 2025.1. Different servers. Still can't connect.

thoughts on this being a possibility for mullvad? if so, how?

for instance: discord has its own ip assigned, the rest has a separate unique ip

I live in the UK ie allowed to have a VPN legally but also just wants to protect myself a little bit more.

For the love of god my why can’t we have a recurring payment option?

I’m tired of having to remember every few months to update my subscription. I can completely understand why people wouldn’t want a regular subscription for a VPN on their bank statement every month, but from most Western countries the simply isn’t a problem.

Have MV ever addressed the reason?

Edit: thanks everyone for comments. Really helpful!

Hi

What's a decent router that can run mullvadvpn directly ?

What is everyone using and what's the experience (setup, maintenance, etc)

Thanks!

Not VPN, but Browser (Couldn't find a sub for browser sorry)

Went away for a week on holiday, returned and updated Mullvad browser, went to chill on YouTube and every video has these lines at the bottom half of the frame. I thought maybe dying GPU but in gaming theres no issues whatsoever. Twitch livestreams seem to function fine as well. Chrome browser (yes you can hate me for still having it installed) doesn't have this issue.

Mullvad was working flawlessly until I decided to download the latest version and since I installed it I can't start it, the service is running.

I tried turning off the service and I when its off I can see the Mullvad window telling me unable to connect, when I turn the service back on it disappear.

Is there a way to find older versions of the app ?

Thanks!

In Mullvad VPN you if you set protocol to OpenVPN you can enable bridge mode to choose a bridge server, this is mask your connection. With Mullvad being the process of removing OpenVPN support will the bridge servers be moved to support WireGuard. This matters a lot for me because I need to use bridges to connect from where I am located.

I have a newer Windows 11 PC and just updated Mullvad, and now I am having this issue. It was working just fine before this update, a few hours ago. I can't get it to actually start, just have the "disconnected and unsecure" fly out message from the lower right of the screen. Clicking it does nothing. And there's no way to actually start the VPN. Is anyone else having this issue?

EDIT: Yes, I restarted my system. Going to try uninstall and reinstall next.

Hey, sorry if this is a stupid question, but is it a bad idea to use multi-hop in the same country like the entry and exit point?

When i try to connect on my PC it will say connecting blocking internet forever and never connect. If I try to switch to another server it will say disconnecting forever and never do anything. If I try to disconnect it will say disconnecting for a few seconds and then say connecting again. All the while my internet will be blocked and the only way I can fix it is manually power down my PC. This has been going on for a while and I hoped it would get fixed from an update but it hasn't happened.

Full disclosure, my laptop's a disaster. It's Windows 10, pretty much never gets turned off, got Norton 360 on it that's always messing something up, the past few months it's been firing up fans at full speed for every small function, been bugging out in loads of ways just the past week, and I last cleaned out its guts over a year ago, which was to replace its battery

That said, I just got mullvad, and every time I try and open the app, it sends the "disconnected and unsecure" notification, and does nothing else. I disabled Norton's firewall, still nothing, but I don't know if that rules out Norton as the culprit

It's also been acting funky for browsing. Reddit most noticeably never opens properly when running a VPN, same goes for a lot of other sites, the whole reason I got Mullvad was because that was the final straw for Proton, it'd been sucking consistently for a while now anyway. Still, maybe it wasn't a Proton problem and all the other abuses this thing endures are to blame

Saw new Windows version released today - downloaded and installed, but the app would not launch. Blocked internet connection until I uninstalled.

Re-downloaded and installed 2025.2 and working again.

Anyone else with issues with 2025.3?

Anyone else having speed issues this week? Without VPN I’m getting 700mbps - flip on Mullvad on 59 Mbps. Tested on PIA, 300 easy.

I’ve heard that the new UN Cybercrime Treaty includes provisions for strengthening international cooperation and information sharing among countries. I’m concerned about how this might impact the privacy of users on the no-log VPN like the Mullvad.

Could the expansion of information sharing frameworks under the treaty make it easier to track/surveillance VPN users and compromise their privacy?

I'm forced to disable the VPN when uploading (FTP, not torrenting) which defies the purpose of having a VPN in the first place.

Did anyone manage to find a config that retains the connection upload speed? at least most of it?

I tried many nodes, close to home, no deal.

Hi,

So I had problems with connection on multiple servers, I know for sure it's not on my side. Even downloading the installer was very slow, and my connection is like 0.5Gbps.

Anyway I emailed them few hours after purchase asking for a refund, that was already like 15 days ago, sent an email twice and 0 response.

I wouldn't recommend Mullvad VPN in 2025 to anyone. I've tried a different brand VPN now and got 0 problems.
