I use Linux, have played multiple Elder Scrolls games, but weigh 215 and have a 34" waist. Am suburban American. I don't take any injections or use any medication either. I bet there are lots of Americans who are in better shape than you would suggest, but even if OP isn't, it's not your place to judge.
Google says that the average American has a body fat around 28% but the benchmark for obesity is 25%. On average my claim is true.
