Autistic children and young people deserve better protection – not an ideological gender journey without the possibility of a return ticket

Today's "gender-affirming" medical treatments are on the wrong side of history. They'll be looked back on like lobotomies

I wouldn't say that all gender-affirming treatments would be on the wrong side of history. But I don't think such a thing should be given lightly. When I was younger I felt like I was different. At one point I was also led to believe that I wasn't a male. Turns out I just have autism. What also didn't help is that you're told "you can't do xyz, you're a boy!" I couldn't be caring about animals, I couldn't play with my sister's toys, etc. Then I see a world where transgender people give an account on them feeling different and the only education I received about autism was moreso showing someone with low functioning autism- and that wasn't even from official education systems, but my own Church trying to raise awareness. Good on them though for trying to teach us about it, albeit flawed, much better than what the schools did.

I don't think there's no such thing as transgender people- I just think that society has handled raising awareness of it poorly and some children may transition to "fit in", especially into online communities. Which is relatively harmless, provided medicine isn't provided to those who aren't old enough to make a decision.

I am a classic conservative. Live your life how you want but don’t step on the rights of others. The problem is many groups want to step on the rights of others.
