General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Oh goody, biometrics at the border… yet another brexit benefit
If it's of any consolation. It's mostly performative.
Visit other countries instead?
So I'll just leave my girlfriend at home whenever I want to go and see my family :)
No. You just don't have to be so whiny about it. It will take you a fraction of a moment to do your biometrics compared to the joy you'll get by having your girlfriend see your family. What are you going to prioritise? It's really not a big deal. And if you think it is then, seriously, visit other countries. Europe is not the be all and the end all.
I won't have to do any biometrics but you are the one who said to just go visit some other countries lol
I won't either. Irish grandmother 😊🇮🇪. But I thought you said your girlfriend would need to? Sorry did I misunderstand you?
Are you feeling ok lol, you literally said people should not visit europe and go elsewhere
Hmmm 🧐. No I said it's not a big deal to visit Europe and do biometrics for literally 60 seconds at the border. Like what is the big deal about that? Feel free to visit of you want. And if you don't want to (for whatever reason) then don't. I'm not telling you to do anything 🤷.
