"Homicide Life On The Streets"

This show came out before The Wire. Also set in Baltimore, also has a stellar cast and fantastic writing.

Currently watching it and it's definitely close to the wire. Plus young Andre Braugher

There's one episode I'll never forget.

Braugher, his partner, and a state cop go into a gas station to question the attendant.

Andre asks the guy if he noticed anything strange around noon. The guy says no. Then the state cop asks if he saw anything that day, and the attendant rattles off all the information they need. Then Andre asks why he didn't mention this the first time.

"You asked if anything happened around noon. All this happened at half past."

Andre and his partner go out to their car. They sit quietly for a minute. And then Andre delivers the line I've been quoting for years.

"Have you ever noticed that some people just work harder at being stupid?"

That's a great line! Neurodiverse people often take questions literally though so it's not a great place to use the line
