Its insane that massive cities can just disappear. You'd think there would be more remnants but I guess any stone and valuables are pillaged
Erosion is also much faster than people realize. Some of it takes millions of years. Some of it takes only a few centuries. Wood comes to mind. Sandy regions are also at particular risk of wind erosion. Places that get humid in summer and frigid in winter will have stone cracking to bits in just decades.
