How often to spy pictures get declassified? The article kinda hints that they just kinda stay classified until someone gets bored and decides to kill time by declassifying stuff; but if so, this is a good example of why stuff should get declassified on a regular basis. Like, if you're worried about revealing agents or info that's still relevant, then redact that, but how many other interesting things have been spotted by spy satellites but will remain hidden for another 40+ years?

Just releasing spy imagery can be dangerous because you're showing any potential enemy the detail of your satellite surveillance. Maybe they could come up with some method but I imagine they pentagon will default to keeping classified information classified.
