That’ll be horrible. Right now I can trust the App Store without question.

You shouldn’t blindly trust the App Store. The review process isn’t perfect and scam apps can find their way into the App Store. Here’s one example: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2023/02/pig-butchering-scam-apps-sneak-into-apples-app-store-and-google-play/
