Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Is there a "universal" web UI for custom Linux NASes? (self.linux)

Got me thinking, cuz I've done my own solutions (not the popular ones, like OMV and the likes) and they work just fine, I really have no trouble managing them through the terminal, but I thought about other people (maybe people that like more managing things though a web UI) and I was like "is there something like this 🤔?".

The other reason I'm asking is because I also freelance as IT solution/support and sometimes I do custom solutions for clients, like a NAS, and I would like to ease things a little user side. Sure, that will cut down on my fees, but I like client satisfaction and I think they will appreciate it ☺️.

Maybe you want to look into cockpit? https://cockpit-project.org/

I think its what you are asking for. I've used it quite a bit to manage ZFS pools and it works quite well for that.

Thanks ☺️. Will look into it. Does it recognize other filesystems, like BTRFS?

It does have some support for other filesystems, but I'm not sure what features it supports with BTRFS. I think I'm using a plugin for ZFS, and it has support for snapshots, NFS and samba sharing, etc.

Darn, just checked, it's heavily tied to systemd... sure I can use it for work, but not at home, I use Void at home.

There are some other solutions that I stumbled upon that could possibly be something that I can use, like netdata or prometheus.
