Modder 'Shish15' has released a must-have 8K Texture Pack for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition that overhauls its landscapes.

Over how big of an area are landscape textures stretched in Skyrim? Or alternatively, how close do I need to get to the ground for there to be a 1:1 mapping from texels to pixels of these 8K textures on a 4K screen?

I find the metric of 4K, 8K, 16K useless since none if them intrinsically describe the width not height of the resolution.

It'd be like if I described a swimming pool as "high capacity" with no mention of how deep it is.

It is the size of the texture image of you were to open it in a drawing program. A 4K texture is 4096x4096 texels large.
