Just got a new work phone: Galaxy S22. Wanted a pixel but it was out of stock in our internal allocation. Already tired of samsung's UI and interested in something new.

So what do you like? Bonus points if it works with android enterprise's profile mode dual app drawers.

I use neolauncher Not quite nova but okay once you set it up

You can grab it on fdroid or directly on GitHub https://github.com/NeoApplications/Neo-Launcher

[–] Jacoolh@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

Thanks. I was looking for a Nova replacement.

AIO launcher.

Looks nothing like a regular launcher, but works great for me, can have calendar, news, tasks etc all in one convenient scrolling home screen

I've never tried an alternate launcher, do you need to root your phone to do it? And can you easily go back if you change your mind?

Neo Launcher, it's the closest think to Nova, but there is still a lot of bugs.

[–] kingcake@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I just replaced Nova with Neo after trying several from this thread. The only bug I've seen has been renaming folders. But other than that it has been smooth sailing. Thanks for the recommendation. 👍🏻

I still have the app icon disappearing when you update it bug. Plus the in general unpolished feel of the app.

For free I can't complain, but it's not as smooth or as polished as Nova... Yet

OLauncher, it's FOSS, minimalist, simple and available on F-Droid.

[–] ilikekeyboards@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Finally a launcher that won't be bought by a data telemetry company

[–] Solo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I use productivity launcher. Its very barebones, works well, quick access to my apps and it's not bright and colorful so my phone is a little less appealing to look at and might reduce my screen time a tiny bit.

Ratio Launcher ! Nothing compares, i always end up going back to it . Not most customizable but it being well designed more than makes up for it . I hope they open source it

I have an S22+ and I've been using one UI for years now. What do you find inadequate about it if you don't mind my asking?

I have found samsung's software to be the most feature complete android experience so far.

Smart Launcher for me. I've been using it since the Smart Launcher 3 days, and it's really still a launcher with no-nonsense UI that doesn't change a lot, for example you can still modify it to feel just like SL3 with the left side app menu and gestures. Plus the design language used in SL6 is just beautiful to me.

Liked it so much I bought the pro version of SL3 and later on, get the full license for SL5 (and onwards).**

Using Nova Prime since many years now. Very satisfied, never felt the need to use anything else

[–] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 years ago

I use nova. I haven't shopped around but it's solid and does what I ask it to

[–] conrad82@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I use Kvaesitso, and have used it for a while now. I like it! https://kvaesitso.mm20.de/

I don't think it gets bonus points though

Since gestures don't work with 3rd party launchers, I am stuck with the default one. Hope Google fixes this issue.

I am not aware of any phone where gertures works well with 3rd party launchers.

Which gestures do you mean? Like edge swipes for back and swipe up for home? Works fine for me, Pixel6P using Total Launcher.

SimpleLauncher. Does everything I need it to and nothing more.

[–] boopdepop@lemmy.fmhy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Okay, so I really really like KISS launcher. KISS stands for keep it simple stupid and that should tell you all there is to know about the launcher. It is a search based launcher, you can do quick calculations, one click call/text your contacts, configure additional search engines (eg: you can search directly on YouTube, Maps, Google or just open an url directly). No matter what I try it never satisfies as much as KISS, I find it an hassle to go through the icons searching fot your app. It is available on F-Droid

Even for its non-standard layout, I've really fallen in love with Kvaesito. Maybe it's because I now don't have to work out which widgets I want to have on my main screen and how to lay them out.
