I am working on a few stories with tons of assets in digital files and I already have a few backups. I am worried about the inevitability of many of the files randomly getting corrupted and losing them forever so the more backups, the merrier.

I have had shockingly horrible experience with NXT, not only for personal use, but since I used to be in IT and we sometimes used NXT for transfers, the thumbdrives stopped working within a week vs every other brand which lasted longer. So any other brands recommended?

In terms of storage, it will get bigger over time but at the moment it probably only needs to be 32 gigs.
