Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Where the hell did all that time go?

Fun Fact: I was the very first person who discovered a back masked subliminal message on Tool's "10,000 Days" album and my video got sum 100k views which was insane for that time in youtube history. Whenever Tool finally released their discography on streaming platforms, I got a copyright strike and it was taken down. fuckers.

Most people who use YouTube are over 19 years old.

I have just received the relevant stats and indeed, I'm not but it sure feels like it these days. It's more childlike in content than it's every been IMO. Maybe it's just me.

I'm old enough to remember when YouTube was a separate account from your Google login.

My accounts currently from 2011. I've used it a bit longer, that would've been around 18 for me and I've been using it since at least 14/15. I started with Google video I think.

I noticed the last modified date on some of my mp3s recently and realized almost all of them are old enough to drink and some are nearly 30 years old :(

On a tangent I went to buy a secateurs (small plant chopper) off eBay - they wanted proof I was over eighteen; via a credit card. My eBay account is 16 years old. What the actual fuck?

[–] sexual_tomato@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

My oldest account I can still access is my eBay account at roughly 20 years old. Next oldest is my Steam account at 18.

Why do you think this image proves your contention exactly?
