I'm hoping I don't have brain damage but this definitely has me more motivated to get a CPAP finally. Thank you for sharing.

Edit: Asked my GP for a referral to the ENT. Gonna get my sleep checked again!

I got one about two months ago. It's been such an immense improvement to my quality of life. I didn't think I was sleep deprived, but I was! I just had gotten so used to feeling like shit all the time. I should have listened to my wife and got sleep research done years ago. Apparently I stopped breathing 66 times per hour in my sleep!

I had it done, I even had the CPAP for a trial period, but my ex said the mask bothered her and I'd have to find somewhere else to sleep if I used it. I also didn't have a sleep schedule so I barely got around to trying it.

How could it have bothered her? Good thing she's your ex now.

It "looked scary" and she didn't want the hose or whatever in the bed... Plus she didn't like the sound or something.

I could write a book on her. She's that fucked up of a person. You see people online with main character syndrome? She legitimately seems to think she's the only person who's actually human, everyone else is wrong, stupid and evil. Nobody should ever inconvenience her. I once asked her if she's ever felt anything she did was wrong, or if she ever regretted anything. She said she doesn't have to answer that.

Just get the CPAP. It'd awesome IMHO. And the new ones are basically silent

This was a bit over a year ago so it's not exactly like we're talking about some old and super loud one either hehe

Anyway I'm making the phone call to the hospital on Monday to see if I can get an appointment with the same doc, otherwise I can book online at another hospital, I noticed there are a lot of available slots even for next week. It'll cost me like 5 euros for the doctor's appointment and then about 90 to buy the actual CPAP as they told me (national health insurance pays most, but not all of it). It's as close to free as you can get, honestly.

That's great! Just be sure you don't get a Philips machine (see: https://www.legalexaminer.com/texaminer/medical-devices/philips-cpap-class-action-agreement-reached-while-cpap-injury-lawsuits-continue/)

I have a Löwenstein prisma smart max. No complains about it.

I can't be sure what machine they'll give me this time (it all goes through the doctor, AFAIK they look at logs and then configure it as needed after the trial period?), but the one I was given for a trial period last time was a Löwenstein Prisma of some type too.

I found the CPAP life changing. Was a walking zombie for years, thinking I was just a bad sleeper.

It's kind of annoying at first but stick with it. After a while if you try and sleep without it, you realize how bad the apnea is.

I've been a walking zombie all my 20s basically. Hope this solves it. I've got so much shit going on that could be improved by getting a good night's rest from fewer than 16 hours.

Too bad many of us just can't use the CPAP machines.... There's no real alternative
