Probably none as my TV and controller are both simultaneously down for the count but seeing this suddenly pop up in my feed reminds me that the latest Ys game should have an english release by now and I need to get on that.

Edit: yes it is out and I'm a year late. Ouph.

Ys X has two versions, Ys X: Nordic, which got an Switch, PS4, PS5 and steam release and an enhaned version that got released in japan only on switch 2 and steam so far. I think 2026 in west. Just keep that in mind.

I will be trying to get into the tales games the combat is the only thing throwing me off at the moment but the story and art style are fun.

Been off of JRPGs for a tick, too much if a time commitment recently. But I started up Final Fantasy X. First time playing it, and since over the last couple of years I've gone through 7-9, it's about time I work on 10.

You are in for a treat hopefully the story and game play are enjoyable for you!

I hope so as well! So far of the original 3D FFs, the only one that was disappointing was FF7, so I'm hopeful. So far I enjoy the quickness and easiness of switching between backlog characters in combat!

Yeah it's pretty smooth that way you can adjust on the fly.

What happened with 7?

I just didn't enjoy it. I understand and appreciate all the things it did for JRPGs and pushing them into 3D as well, but playing it for the first time it just... was not good, in my opinion. I suppose the story beats that were meant to have impact didn't since those have long since been spoiled, and controlling it was really difficult. All in all, I wouldn't play the original FF7 again. I'll probably give the new ones a try at some point.

Fair enough alot of it could be considered out dated i suppose.

I finished Digimon Story Time Strangers, i get why the user rating is so much better than the other rating on metacritic. It does a lot think right that maybe convice some creature collection fans to like this game a lot. The cities and very lively, you see so much different digimon in every corner of the cities, it felt lifely, that good enough even though the effect is quite simple, because in reallity they stand on one place. The story get better and better in a run and a good amount of emotional, that convince a lot of player. And i think the director has made a lot good decitions, because this game doesn't have the budget of other AAA games for sure, the graphic is just good enough, a lot npc don't have face, but they just not important, the game is very linear, so you don't have to build to big worlds. But that's why i think the user rating of 9/10 is a bit to much 7-8/10 is a fair review rating. This game is good enough in every part but not outstanding and has flaws, maybe the biggest in the battle system and the personality system. The story start rather weak, get better and i liked the end and some middle parts a lot, but some story moment or especially the dialoges are just ok. I want to make a post about it, but i'm very stresst and wasn't in the mood for it. But in the end i enjoyed it, but i'm very fond of monster collection games.

I will play or just start chained echoes, and something on the switch, but i don't know it's The Hundres Line: last Defence academy or Tactics Orgre Reborn.

In case my text makes no sense, i'm very exhausted XD

Yeah, I'm also considering doing Chained Echoes for Seventh Heaven's game of the month. My track record with indie JRPGs isn't great though 😅

Didn't finish any JRPGs this month (again!). I'd actually been going at a decent rate the past few years, finishing around 9-10 JRPGs in a year, but I don't think I'm hitting that mark again. In October I got sucked into Hades 2, which is probably going to be my personal game of the year.

Right now I'm playing Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, having a good time overall and settling into a very familiar old rhythm with it. Playing through on Tactician difficulty, I just finished Chapter 2. I've been frustrated by it here and there, but I did want a challenge on replay #15 or whatever the hell it is for me at this point. A couple of minor changes caught me off guard, like how the best/worst zodiac compatibility works now. That's going to force me to rethink my Riovanes Castle strategy.

Speaking of which, I can't believe they omitted the in-battle zodiac reference chart. At first I thought they'd color coded, which seemed like a great addition...until I realized it was just cosmetic. Overall, the UIs are very thin compared to the earlier versions. You used to be able to hit SELECT and get info on literally every single part of the UI, and that's all gone now. I was pretty surprised by this considering how it looked in early screenshots. Looks pretty, but functionally, it's a big downgrade.

That said, there are good additions. The revamped poaching system is a nice QoL upgrade. The way job info is presented now should be great to help out new players. However, the voice acting is the standout: it is phenomenal. It's a step up from Tactics Ogre Reborn, which was already largely good; I think Creative Studio 3 might have the best dubbing team in the business right now. Ramza, Agrias, Milleuda, and Folmarv have been great so far. It's funny, a long time ago I used to think Chapter 1 was on the weak side, but it hit so damn hard this time. That part of the story is just a fantastic stretch of the game now, wire to wire.

Ah man I'm jelly not time or money to get ff tactics haven't played it in 15 years sounds like there are some good and bad changes to the new one but that's to be expected tinkering around with it.

Glad to hear the va is good tho

Oh, I definitely didn't have the money for it myself 😅 My local library came through on this one. Usually it takes them more like six months for me to get new releases.
