While people are living longer, they're also having fewer children, according to the United Nations. In the U.S., this population shift means caring for parents, grandparents, and other relatives could become even more challenging with fewer family members to pitch in. The caregiving industry is already experiencing a workforce shortage. The decline in the birth rate may reshape how we think about caring for the oldest Americans.

Have they tried addressing the cost of living through proven strategies like busting monopolies, instituting strong social safety nets, and securing the essentials of life like housing, education, and healthcare?

Or are we just going to talk about how it will have been inevitable because the ultra wealthy will have their care secure as it is?

Sure, we could jump directly to strategies that have historically worked well, and have been fair to all concerned.

But, a counterpoint: Maybe we wait and see how big of a yacht a single person can own, instead?

Oooh good point. The problem might just go away on its own anyway. It would’ve sucked to have not bought that yacht in the meantime.
