40,000 locations. If they get 1 bsod a week, that's 99.8% uptime across their entire empire.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/McDonald's

The bigger the organization, the more frequent their issues will be, its the ratio and uptime per store that matters.

I see. I guess that explains it

no you don't guess, that does explain it, period.

I love going to these restaurants with all display menus that rotate between ads. It's seriously awesome when I go up to the counter and ask them what they even have and they tell I need to wait a minute till the ad changes. I am not going to immediately walk out of the next restaurant that does that to me.

Annoys me too, they either expect you to know the menu by heart or just buy what they advertise. As far as I know it's not that bad at McDonald's germany, since we have a small printed out menu at the wall near the counter.

Wait what are they doing‽ I don’t go out to fast food often at all and haven’t heard of this before. The extreme pervasiveness of advertising feels like people trying to parody themselves

A bunch of restaurants, not even chains but trendy new places too, put up a big screen tv to display their menu. But because you can, they will rotate between the menu and photos of goulash being made with child labor. While I'm in favor of kids making goulash I wanted to look at the menu. So the menu's back and you start reading it. Then suddenly, you guessed it, kids making goulash.

I didn’t notice the black screen. I didn’t know what community this community was. I thought you were pointing out the “McShart Menu”

I don't think I like the way you're smiling at me

It's just a list of items you can order that will give you the McSharts.

[–] cheerjoy@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's a franchise business, so it's up to the local owners to keep things maintained well enough.

[–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 4 points 2 years ago

But then you'd have to pay for skilled staff. Who can afford that?

[–] phanto@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 years ago

It's a McSmart Menu. So it did the McSmart thing, and quit.

What is that sandwich to the left of the malfunctioning menu, a McVegan?

[–] FQQD@feddit.de 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Pretty sure that's a chicken burger

[–] medicsofanarchy@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Ah, thanks! A Big Mac is [top, burger, bun, burger, bottom], this looked to me like that but with the burgers removed.

Sorry, we're all out. Would you like to try Coreboot?
