Earlier it seemed like a surge in users of PieFed/Lemmy depended on Reddit fucking up somehow, this is the first time it appears to me as if it's mostly a question of getting the word out there. Pretty cool.
Time to print flyers I guess.

Can you imagine, years ago how the internet was before? We know Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Youtube. We knew blogger, Tumblr, Skyrock... and long before, it was the forum era as phpBB..and mail-lists.
And now with ActivityPub, we are reshaping the web, and achieving much more with lots of freedom. So thank you all, and welcome π€π

We all make mistakes,
If your comment is reported, and brings up a complex issue, we will reach out to you and ask you to rephrase it.
Our goal, is to create a serene space for discussion. Nothing more.
If the post isn't edited to remove hurtful language element, we will have to remove it. It would be a shame because your comment was interesting and you took some time to write it.
In case of xenophobia, racism, transphobia, homophobia or harassment, it will be a permanent ban.

Yeah, I think the best kind of growth would be slow, steady growth, giving servers and resources time to adjust.
usually when they start another round of banning, shadowbanning. or they increase thier censorship filters(deleting, words, posts,,etc). a new account is pratically on thin eggshells easy to get banned, because reddit see it as potential bots(they also look at other metrics too)
Well done @ek-hou-van-braai@piefed.social !
Thanks π happy to help
Wondering if we should prioritize daily/weekly users as the main metric, so we can track if people are engaging or soon abandoning after signup.
That would be better. Although Lemmy and PieFed do include daily and weekly stats in their API those graphs are coming from https://fediverse.observer/ so it's not something we can change without getting involved in their code and submitting a PR.
Welcome to all the newcomers. May they stay here long enough to leave reddit!
I finally made the jump from lemmy to piefed last week, the apps I like have finally got their piefed support to a good place
Is there an app that supports feeds?
Coming soon!
what are you using?
Boost for lemmy. It isn't quite at feature parity with the piefed webui but I'm happy with the pace of progress
right on. iβve been digging blorp.
itβs also fun to say.
blorp.
Nice!
Anyway, i hope they will enjoy their experience here. We can't replace Reddit daily activities, so some community will be missing.
However, we are not Reddit, it's kinda different. For example, you can watch peertube video directly here. :)
And later, Piefed will connect to Mastodon, so number won't matter anymore. Currently, Mbin is the only one that can connect to mastodon. π
