RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world

I'm right there with you... I've been trying to quit nicotine and I have been absolutely ravenous basically 24/7 :(

Freddie says you make the rockin' world go round!

I'm the opposite. I often get reminded that I haven't eaten in a day because my fingers start to go numb and shiver, lol

I got zepbound, lost weight, it changed my relationship with hunger and food. Overall an amazing experience on this drug. I wish doctors could give it out to everyone (except like people with eating disorders)

It costs 500 Euro a month here and insurances refuse to cover it.

Interesting. It can be very difficult to convince insurance to cover GLP-1s in the US as well. My doctor was determined to debate with the insurance company until they approved it for me.

I didn't realize that countries in Europe are stingy about prescribing it too. Or that you'd be forced to pay American level prices for prescriptions.

Here in Germany the insurances think that being overweight is your own fault, why should anyone help you? Just go for a run 3 times a day!

Hopefully it'll change some day. But yeah, the stigma found on an institutional level is big regarding a ton of preventative medicine that would be cheaper for society as a whole if covered.

Taking daily Ritalin for years, still not losing weight :( I hate it

[–] IWW4@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

I feel you man, I am constantly wrestling with that reality.

[–] blarghly@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

I know the feeling. It sucks. If you want, I can provide advice, as someone who used to be fat years ago, then lost the weight and kept it off. But if not, I hope my sympathies come through and that you are kind to yourself.

My mom calls me fat, and I say "nuh uh, according to the American standards, I'm just a standard American" (The joke is "Americans are fat", so I did not "get fat", only got a change of citizenship that's all)

(Okay so average weigh for men in China is like 150 pounds according to Google and for US, average for men is like 200 pounds so I just right around 200 pounds. MOM SHUT UP I'M NOT FAT LOLOL 🫠)

I wonder if the average height affects the average weight, but I don't know how tall the average Chinese man is.
