Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.

Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

Just logged in on the new update and it's fantastic! Major improvement over the web interface on mobile.

Will you make a PR? I see all this concepts here, but imaging something is not as easy as actually implementing it. Hope, Jerboa's dev team will grow with current reddit user influx.

This may be a stupid question but does Jerboa support other instances or just Lemmy.ml? I'm on Lemmy.world.

Edit: It does. I just needed to open the sidebar, click on "Anonymous" and it brought up the login dialog where I could select my instance.

[–] L37kn@feddit.de 4 points 2 years ago

I use it on feddit and can see content from lemmy.ml as well

[–] GlassHalfHopeful@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

It does. I'm at beehaw, currently using the app, and I leave the setting at federated so I can see the content across all instances.

Works really well. My only complaint is when trying to collapse a comment tree if I accidentally tap a user's name instead then swipe to go back all the comment trees I've collapsed are no longer collapsed.

[edit]

Replyinf to a comment also uncollapses all collapsed comments.

Looks nice but I usually use the list view!

[–] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago

I'm sure it will be an option. It already is currently so you should be good 👍

[–] RiseAndShine@beehaw.org 4 points 2 years ago

Yes, please! This looks amazing!

[–] Jumuta@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Sorry, that gif is comically large lol

[–] amir_s89@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I get Object Error. Can't see it. Room for improvements!

[–] Mog_fanatic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

Feature not a bug 😏

[–] Jumuta@lemmy.ml 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

nice, but looks too flat imo. I rather all black or have some more thickness.

[Edit] ok I was blind, there is already an option for that in the settings called "show action bar by default for comments" not sure, if this came with .33 or not but I'm happy now :D

Looks good!

One suggestion:

Can you make an option to hide the controls for comments (up/downvote, permalink and so on...) and make them only pop up when I press on the comment?

When reading the comments of a post, the controls take away a lot of screen space. I don't want to interact with very comment, so hiding the controls would declutter the comment section imho

Example of what I mean in Sync for reddit:

Controls Hidden

Controls shown

[–] Celsiuss@lemmy.world 3 points 2 years ago (3 children)

If you long tap the comment, it hides the buttons.

But I agree that it should be hidden by default. And swap the long tap and short tap behavior.
