I have a statistical pool of 1, but I am 40 something, an infra specialist at a video game publisher and use Linux. So, I suppose you just described me
im 16. probably in the 0.1% of fediverse users. i dont really use mastodon though, too boring for me
As long as it has enough shitpost it will attract young people. We need to shitpost more.
Yep that’s me
2/3 unless we count my pixel phone which honestly barely does. but yes it's mostly enthusiasts and that will be fine if we get enough movement.
I think that tends to be the starting point, but the user base is expanding quickly and is becoming way more diverse. There are already plenty of users who don't fit in that category, and I suspect it will continue to grow.
frick, I check all three boxes (36, software developer and currently a KDE Neon user)
Guilty
3 for 3 here. I'm not here to buy things. I'm here to disseminate and consume information/news, ask and answer questions, and learn things.
I'm far from 30, am a tech enthusiast but I'm taking a degree in a different field, and I do use Linux.
But yeah, it's hard to get other people to use media platforms like this one. I think it will naturally grow though but it's hard to compete with corporate media platforms.
I feel not nearly as much on Lemmy, but for Mastodon 100% yes. It's actually exhausting talking to them lol, they're so boring.
I'll have you know I am not (yet!) a Linux user. (Later this year, maybe.)
Almost got me!
I feel personally attacked...!
Yep, I'm all three...
I fit none of your 3 categories! But I would say with the slightly less convenient joining process compared to most social media, the Fediverse is going to have to built up by people willing to take that burden, at least at first
