Sideline reports are really stupid and pointless and I can’t wait until they’re over.

[–] CandiedApples84@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So we just watch a reality tv show?

[–] American_Greed@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I remember when Jim Rome confessed on air to making up traffic reports to spice things up on the air, and impress his boss.

[–] QAPetePrime@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I watch with the sound down, so as long as she stays hot, I’ll allow it.

[–] camergen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So, this is a job that anyone with any reporting skills could do- male, female, young, old. The thing the sideline hottie reporters HATE to talk about then, is, if any reporter of any age can do it…why are 95 percent of them women under the age of 30 with the remaining 5 percent women who have hung around long enough to be legacies of sorts? (Erin Andrews, Pam Oliver, etc).

And a random outlier in Evan Washburn just for a little diversity.

What’s even more cute is that she thinks she out there actually to report vs being eye candy for the TV.

[–] falsekoala@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“No one will tell me shit, so what else am I to do?”

[–] librarynote@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Who cares? Football games consist of 95% fluff and 5% gameplay.

"Charissa Thompson reports" tweets are gonna be gold this Sunday

[–] BradyToMoss1281@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I guess if there's one thing you're going to make up, sideline puffery is a good one to choose.

[–] bionicjoe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Who cares?

There is nothing more useless and unnecessary than a sideline reporter.

[–] ItsMeDoodleBob@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sideline reporters weee important before technology superseded their need. Now they are irrelevant

[–] donta5k0kay@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Straight to jail

[–] yoshiK@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bill Belichick: The left gunner, look Charissa I think that is important for you to get right for your viewers, the left gunner on a line drive punt, if the receiving team is trying to return he has to release outside, that means if he's blocked he has to work through the block and try to stay ahead of the kicking team's players on the inside, of course that changes if the returner isn't right handed, but it is the responsibility of the punter to remember how the returner catches the ball and well, we allowed a return instead of a fair catch on the second punt for 5 yards, that put us back when they punted.

Charissa (after halftime): Coach Belichick told me they just have to execute.

Eh whatever. American journalists already spend all day lying.. not surprised sideline reporters do it too lol

[–] Difficult_Committee5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Cannot Believe ZERO FROM THE MEDIA,

[–] ClasseBa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Who cares? She is blonde and hot. I can't remember a word she said.

[–] smoke_that_junk@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Love the jokes, but she should be fired. Period

[–] StopManaCheating@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The only real purpose of a sideline reporter is injury updates. Nothing else they have ever done brings value to a broadcast.

[–] Amadeum@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

To be fair, Nick Sirianni completely refuses to do half time interviews and takes whatever fine he gets for it

But yeah to self snitch about this is certainly a choice.

[–] escobert@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So its just like the news

[–] Newaccount4464@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I used to know that if the reporter said the coach said 'look'that they're making it up

[–] victorspoilz@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's almost as if entire broadcast and studio teams add absolutely no value to the viewing experience.

[–] iceph03nix@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

lol, I have a feeling after doing enough of those interviews, you already know what the coach is going to say, and it's probably just saving the coach some headache

[–] DaleGribble312@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I don't care. I'd rather she not report on it at all 🤷‍♂️

[–] Putthebunnyback@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the coach doesn't come out for the interview, maybe just skip it? I know, wild concept...

[–] Sasquatch680@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Weird how we hold sports reporters to higher standards than those "Jounalists" who do the 24 hour new cycle.

[–] unhealthyshoe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is it me, or does it feel like the article is more blaming the coaches than the sideline reporter, even though the sideline reporter is in the wrong for telling a lie to the audience at home? Please call me out if I’m missing something lol

[–] herbaceouswarlord@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And so begins the rise of AI sideline reporting

[–] Consistent_Soft_1857@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just goes to show that nobody cares what they say or pays attention to it. They have no expertise or experience with football. The only reason they weaseled their way into these roles is because they are some tv execs girlfriend.

[–] Shredding_Airguitar@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They're never that insightful anyhow "Well I talked to the coaching staff and he told me they need to do more to score touchdowns and also to stop the other team from scoring touchdowns. That's their strategy going into the 2nd half so we will see if they can pull it off"

[–] kingpin2496@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Get pucks deep.

[–] IlLupoSolitario@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Admittedly without reading through all several hundred comments... Didn't someone literally admit to this same thing like a year or two ago?
