Apple was never the same after jobs

AirPods problems: “You’re listening to it wrong”
Maybe we could have kept a head phone jack?
I don’t see anything significant happening to Apple imo. I mean, there was likely a layout of what things to release as well as Jony Ive (being one of Apple’s core designers) having a vision for Apple. Hell, he helped with some of the best products like the G4, 2007 iPhone, and first iPod!
Also, iOS, MacOS, and the iPad were all starting to mature. The skeuomorphic design was fading away into something more “modern”. I do see silicon Mac’s releasing sooner as well as Vision Pro releasing earlier, but the first few iterations being limited and restricted.
My theory is that the product line would’ve been more minimal, and Apple wouldn’t be the highest market cap company. Also the 699 Mac Pro wheels wouldn’t exist.
But who knows, none of us would really know.
You might just have asked one of the most profound questions in this decade. Who or why did you ask this question??? I am not joking
Steve Jobs was an human too. It's astonishing how people tend to evangelize him.
In 2007 the requirements of an smartphone were different than nowadays. So it's hard to believe that he foresee everything or would stand on dogma like : finger reachability one handed or no digitizer..
Lots of theories and ideas here but is what Steve wanted best for Apple? They have been pushing into the trillions in their evaluation since Steve’s passing. He was a revolutionary and Apple would not have survived in the earlier days without him but quite honestly they as a company are probably doing better without an obsessive member of the board.
The Steve, praised be his name, would have tripled down on medical integration to the point where you just wish something and then Siri somehow makes it happen
As many people have pointed out, iPhone trends over the past few years have not aligned with Steve’s design philosophy, both in terms of screen size and things such as cameras not being flush.
But more importantly, and please don’t be immature and downvote me, far too many changes to both iPhone design and iOS feature set have been reactions to competition in the Android space. This is not a knock at Apple, they just looked at what the market seemed to be demanding and pivoted to deliver. The idea that everything up until now or even through the X was already fully planned by 2011 is not just kind of silly, it borders on blind religious faith.
Full screen probably was always in the cards, though as some have said, most likely for a device akin to the mini and lacking a notch.
If Apple has a detailed road map for 10+ years and didn’t bother to respond to market demands or user input in all that time… we probably wouldn’t be here typing this on our iPhones now.
when i was a teenager, i asked my mom how she thought steve jobs (like, 1970s jobs) would react to an iMac made today. she responded with "steve jobs would probably say it sucks, and that he could make one better".
that always stuck with me as something profound
No notch and one single camera that can zoom but not stick out when not in use. Some design ideas would either come earlier or later like LED screens and plus size phones.
Flat design would never happen, we would see an evolution from raster skeuomorphic to 3D graphic’s skeuomorphic
Steve Jobs was a sociopath.
I imagine we would be stuck with small phones and designs that would seem like innovation but really aren't. Also iOS would be nowhere near as flexible as it is now. Steve was all about marketing.
They will stay slim and light weight
We would have microwaves and asphalt spreaders in our phones by now!
We miss you steve
I dont miss him at all (I am not saying "I'm glad he's dead").
Much prefer Tim ~~Apple~~ Cook as the head of Apple.
Lot of people saying the phone wouldn’t have gotten bigger, but the Android side showed that people wanted OMG HEUG phones.
I think the notch would have never passed the Jobsian review.
I do think that the camera bump would also have driven him crazy so he might have ordered the team to design around it.
But there’s not much you can really do once the shape reaches the flat rectangle. So, I don’t the phones would be radically different.
I would suspect like other have said there would t be a new one every year and doubt the latest ones would be selling for over £1000/$1000 each.
I would think that there would still be a space reserved for the option of a physical SIM card. It would make data switching so much easier. Of course, maybe thatwouldnt be a problem for some of these things at this point.
There would no notch that’s for sure.
That iPhones would never be made in China. Actually Steve was not even interested in selling iPhones in China then.
There’d be one iPhone size.
Ive wouldn’t have hung around as long as he did
No glass
The M series of chips would have happened a few years earlier.
The iPad and Mac would be the same thing
AirPods Pro/Max would be independently capable music players.
The watch would never have happened
Apple, as a company, would be more focussed.
It would've been better than it is today. Also IOS, would be nowhere near as buggy.
He was a marketing genius and had other people do the work. He had the vision and direction. I think iPhone is on the right track. He didn’t want things to complicated. It’s more accessible to the people
99% the same. I imagine some cool little software features here and there. The kind of features that are QoL improvements but not really relevant like the rubberband thing when scrolling.
Some terrorized engineeers spending an entire semester working overtime doing minimal tweaks until the man decided it was good to go.
They would have stayed thinner and maybe smaller. All Apple product where always about being thinnest in class. And then they became thicker again unfortunately
Highly doubt it would be much different.
Triangle phone
Steve's creation was so that simple needs would have access to a simple operating device. It's was a cult like hysteria that took over the simple world. Apple would probably be in control of the entire mobile landscape.
I don’t think there would be Apple TV+. No Apple Music subscription. Needless harsh rules and limitations.
