Sounds like malicious compliance for the EU usb-c requirement
Sounds like malicious compliance and knowing their ultra zealous base will buy it.
The ultra zealous already upgraded to a whole new pair
Charges just fine on my watch charger, which I have to bring along with me when I travel anyways.
This is how I’ve been charging mine too, works well!
Interestingly, if you have a big AirPods case (like I do) then the iPhone MagSafe will charge it just fine!
$159 here is Australia. That’s definitely some challenging pricing. I don’t know how I’m justifying Apple next time I’m replacing things with all their pricing increases here.
There was never a reason to justify apple over every other brand that's cheaper for the same if not better features and spec.... Not bashing apple but fuck..I'm shocked how blind people are by shitty ecosystems and marketing terms.
Oh this will be confusing. The USB-C AirPods Pro do have some additional features in preparation for the Vision Pro iirc. Surely the old Lightning AirPods Pro 2 won't magically get them just because they have a new case?
I don't believe the earphone part is different. When USB-C APP2 premiered they advertised a lot of new features (adaptative mode, speech triggered transparency etc) but all of them were immediately available on old ones too via firmware update.
See here for example: https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/12/23870723/apple-airpods-pro-usb-c-lossless-audio-vision
Update September 22nd, 1PM ET: In an episode of the Apple Blitz XL podcast, Apple’s Ron Huang explained that the USB-C AirPods can communicate at 5GHz, unlike the earlier models, enabling the lossless audio link to Vision Pro.
