It has to be intentional. Just deleting your account keeps all your comments, just says [u/deleted]. I spent like two weeks deleting my comments first, going back 10 years. Did a few pages a day.

Slack requires payment for messages to persist over 90 days. We used to use Slack for an organization I'm part of. We moved to Discord when that was introduced which is kinda funny.

Depending on your hardware strength and what media you're converting, the handbrake suggestion might be best. But I'm coming in to say that does take a lot of compute power. You mentioned watching cams, so if it's popular TV/movie data you're compressing, it's often quicker to just download a different, lower resolution source from torrent.
