List of Team-Specific Communities:

TroubleshootingIf a community appears as a 404 page when you click it, it likely means that the community is being hosted outside of the instance you are currently using and that nobody in your instance has viewed or interacted with that specific community yet. In order to address this, you will need to copy-paste the specific handle for the community (for example, !tampabaylightning@lemmy.world) into your searchbar so that your instance can "learn" that it exists, after which the community should display via linked URLs without issue. Hopefully this is addressed by the lemmy devs and streamlined in the near future.

Is this the worst managed and owned team in the league? In the whole hockey world? In all of sports history (probably not quite that bad but cut me a little slack here)?

In 2 years they've gone from one of the most stacked groups in the league, with 6 players going to the all star game to this.

We're in dead last place and just traded arguably the greatest player in Canucks history, a true generational talent, Calder nominee, 3 time Norris trophy nominee and winner in 2024, Canucks all time leader in points and assists for a defenseman, the team captain, for Rossi, Ohgren, Buium and what might very well turn into a 32nd overall draft pick.

I'm done emotionally investing in this team and shall now be watching the Wild and my second team the Sharks instead until Aquilini sells the team.

I am trying to get back into watching hockey again, but the digital rink board ads are making it surprisingly difficult. When they slide or flicker my eyes snap to them instead of the play, and I end up losing sight of the puck, especially when it goes behind the net.

I cannot tell if this is an attention or sensory issue on my end or if the broadcasts have simply become more visually aggressive.

For people who watch regularly: Do the shifting digital ads distract you too, or do you barely notice them anymore?

I am genuinely trying to enjoy hockey again but my focus gets pulled away every few seconds and I am wondering how others experience this.

Thanks all for your help on picking a game and prepping for it! I've got questions at the end if you want to skip me wittering on about the match.

I watched them play and I LOVED it. I barely blinked during play, I was gripped and I'm officially a hockey girl now. I was lucky enough to sit near a huge fan who told me loads through the game, although neither of us took our eyes off the game while talking.

Neither team was playing that great, they were a little all over the place, people around me didn't know why. It went to overtime and we won, probably because they heard me repeatedly screaming "COME ON BOYS GET IT TOGETHER!!!"

Alas, no fights although there was nearly one. I did see quite a few deliberate barges into the barrier and boy, Merlott is a forceful player! Him and Kempe were my favourites.

I really, really enjoyed it and I found it a really welcoming place. Nobody cared that I'm english, and knew little about the game. Everyone I spoke to was genuinely supportive about me making them my team and happy to have me on board.

I'm gonna start following hockey now, obviously particularly the kings but are there any other teams that are good to watch? Who is playing best atm?

Hey all! I'm watching LA Kings play in a few days and I want to watch some old matches online so I can get used to how the matches play out. What are some good ones I can watch online?

Hey all! I’ve a choice between going to one of these 2 games:

LA Kings v Ottawa Senators LA Kings v Vancouver Canucks

I know literally nothing about NHL. I’m going cos the atmosphere and experience I’ve seen of matches looks great! I’m also secretly hoping there’s a fight obviously.

Which should I go to?

Nice to see the throwback uniforms in the Hurricanes at Avalanche game. I’m also enjoying the score here at the first intermission!

This is from a few days ago, but I just saw it and thought it was pretty sweet.

I remember getting my haircut one day after Scheifele had played one of his first pre-season games with the Jets and he said "That Scheifele kid is gonna be something, eh?" Yeah, he sure is. Couldn't ask for a better first round pick to reboot the franchise. He didn't have any expectations going on as he was a "stretch" pick.

I've been waiting for #MinnesotaWild #OpeningNight for weeks now. #hockey is the perfect antidote to the emotional rollercoaster of the #WorldOnFire.

As you may be aware for years the NCAA has considered the CHL professional leagues due to the small living stipend teams give players. Now they are counting this junior league as an armature league and skaters who have played in the Canadian major juniors will be eligible for playing including scholarships for U.S. college hockey.
