Right now it's got some songs made by European/Canadian artists, but I am planning on adding more.

Keep in mind this is just for fun, i don't think this actually changes anything. And this playlist is just a thing im making for myself so if you want a certain song in there you can ask me, but I wont necessarily add it.

Hey! I have been searching for platforms to collect money for a non-profit sustainability organization at my uni (in Sweden). If I search for options, I get lists of for-profit American companies.

I noticed lemm.ee uses ko-fi.com. It is British and my go-to option now. My pet peeve with it is that you need to use PayPal or Stripe to get money. I have no experience in (obtaining money through) crowdfunding, so idk how normal that is.

Do you know any other alternatives?

PS: We really need the crowdfunding goal (or just a count) feature for transparency.

Hey!

I want to encourage economic activity within Europe and also ethically align with recycled materials etc.

I'm trying to buy myself a hydration pack for running long distance with, and it's hard to convince myself of anything better than osprey:

• I'm familiar with the company and they have high standards
• they have a great guarantee to repair products
• they use recycled materials
• the product "Duro 6" fits every requirement that I have

Before I go ahead and buy that, can anyone suggest an equal or better product produced in Europe.

A popular ice-cream shop in Denmark is now looking for a new name for their "American" ice-cream, because it is not as popular as it use to be.

They are also considering selling ice-creams with "no balls", and call it Trump 🍦

Most "Buy European" initiatives that I've seen are quite uncoordinated and disorganised. It's very grassroots. That's not bad, but maybe we could do better.

What do I mean by better? Well, imagine if there were ads in public transport, flyers in your mailbox, stickers, t-shirts and other merch, awareness campaigns on social media, a common database for European alternatives, outreach to businesses, partners, and even political affiliations.

I made a sticker, but I'm not a graphic designer. I asked about translations, but we don't have a place to really store that information. We don't have some kind of platform where we can organise stuff without the algorithm just hiding it after a day.

When a US company starts selling stuff in Europe, many people will know about it because of these things. It'll generate chatter and translate into action or purchases. This doesn't just count for products, but political campaigns, and so on. There's a directed, concerted effort, which we lack and probably waiting on some company or politician to get their lips off of a big tech donor's buttcheek will take a while.

Most people I know are barely aware of the Buy European movement. It's either not translated or it's in media they don't follow, but getting a flyer in your mail, seeing an ad on TV or while standing at a bus station, hearing a politician or influencer talk about it, will make people more aware.

Is this something we want? If so, how can we do it? Do we start an NGO? Reach out to a political party like Volt Europa (Although they don't seem to be on the fediverse)
