Given that Chevy actually attempts an official Nurburgring Lap, is there any chance that the ZR1X will be able to get close to or even dethrone the AMG One?

Not sure if there is anyway of knowing before a time is released, or if its just a crazy thing to even think is possible.

It has the power, Chevy suspension, aerodynamics, etc.

https://www.kimera-automobili.com/k39

For people unaware, last year Kimera, the builder of the Evo 37 and 38 Lancia reimaginings/restomods, announced that they would be building a car specifically to compete at and win Pikes Peak. They wanted to break the overall record with this car, not just the ICE record. This was announced last year with plans to compete this year, yet Pikes Peak is this weekend and I can't find any recent mention of this car anywhere. It seems like everyone forgot about it. My 2 guesses at this point are

  • Kimera realized this would take much longer than a year, it's still being worked on
  • Kimera realized beating the EV record would be an extremely hard task and canned the idea for the time being

and the less likely 3rd option, it's happening, but they're just not going to say a single thing about it until this weekend, which I find unlikely.

Anyone else remember this? Any idea what happened to it? I just figured I would mention it since I literally can't find a single thing about it recenetly that isn't just from the announcement last year.

The guys over at Savagegeese do a quick technical review of the new ZR1, with some clips of talking with the engineers and technical specs. Love a good deep dive into the car that Savagegeese always provides

Two of your new Grand Tour trio have finally released the sequel to the $10,000 question and $30,000 question videos. The options at this price point are wide open and they've found some heavy hitters. Which one will they take?

I thought the C8 since launch was cool but it didn't really do much for me in terms of being a looker. Mercedes falling off a cliff with whatever also kicked me off a list of cars I use to like. After seeing the launch of the ZR1X this morning and seeing the depth of interior and exterior design along with power train addons. I'm beyond impressed. Not many cars have done that for me these past few years. Curious what cars you think are great half a decade in.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but it seems like all of the more upmarket cars/brands are constantly shoving their model/branding in your face by way of outrageous styling or excessive badging. Even historically "classier" brands—like Aston Martin—have these grotesquely huge grilles up front. The Toyota Land Cruiser was always the go-to for this, but the US isn't getting the 300 Series—except for the Lexus LX, and the Lexus badge detracts from the "stealth" significantly.

What's the "stealth wealth" car for the modern market?

Original Title: Alfa/Maserati to work together on surviving "Alfa is “premium,” while Maserati is “luxury.” Even so, the two companies are expected to consolidate efforts in other areas to reduce costs by “finding synergies where is possible.”"

Car and Driver is celebrating its 70th anniversary! In 1955, Car and Driver began as a magazine called Sports Cars Illustrated and largely focused on imported sports cars. A few years later, the magazine broadened its scope and changed its name to Car and Driver. Since then, the magazine and now the website have grown to become one of the largest automotive publications in the world.

Tony Quiroga (u/Guaupants), K.C. Colwell (u/A2KC), Dave Beard (u/nameonface), Dave VanderWerp (u/dave2979), Rich Ceppos (u/Arcee_285), and Austin Irwin (u/BoddeanChungus) will be answering any questions you have about Car and Driver’s history, reviews, comparison tests, instrumented testing, features, favorite cars, funniest stories, or any other general questions you have. Alec's 2022 Ioniq 5's ICCU failed and Alec describes his experience with the Hyundai repair process. Issues include Hyundai's disorganized and vague communication, difficulty in obtaining a loaner, and long replacement part lead time. The Ioniq 5 subreddit also has no shortage of stories regarding ICCU failure and this appears to be an ongoing problem.
