130hp, light, sharp looking...makes me miss the Fiesta, Micra, Fit and well, our own Yaris. We used to get those! Cars like this and the i20 need to come here again. Plenty of us live in big cities and barely go beyond 100-200kms regularly but enjoy driving. These are perfect cars for such people.

We all know the stereotypes about Mustang and Altima owners. Let's do something a bit different and highlight the positive stereotypes of various car owners.

Normally not a fan of anything being so heavily editorialized but more than happy to take a position on this immediately. Not going to lie, I’ve taken an all hands meeting call on the road before but it was never gonna go beyond “nothing for the group” and “thanks seeya,” we all know how that goes.

However, if I got a teams notification beamed right to the dash of my cars I would launch it into space.

Not sure if this had been posted previously, relied on the Reddit search function to verify so I’m only as good as that.

Thomas and James compare the 2025 Golf R and the GR Corolla, with the GR Corolla being a manual of Automatic, and the Golf R being automatic only now, is the Golf R still a good competitor, or is is in a different category now? Enjoy!

I'm curious what websites you like to go to stay informed.

I'm from Canada. My daily go-to websites are usually

  • Carscoop
  • Autocars
  • Car and Driver
  • Motortrend

Carscoops and autocars are for news on the other side of the pond. It's to see what's happening on the other markets. Also the time-difference promises new news every morning.

I feel it's a great mix to hear different opinions. Not looking at the comments seems to always be a requirement tho.

I absolutely adore Road n Track. They went heavy on the subscription-based content. My wife is aware, my birthday is coming soon..

What are your sources ? What websites do you like ?

The bean counters over at Stuttgart are are the problem that is now manifesting in the entire VAG group.

How, well, they have tried to segment the market in their offerings, and in doing so, purposely with hold tech to lower brands in an effort to push customers to more expensive brands.

Audi cannot make the best car possible because it will be competing directly with some porsche offerings. The Audi RSQ8 comes to mind (Although I think this was a fluke car, they never intended to make an Audi that good) as it competes with the porsche turbo GT. They had to nuff the engine output, and the drivetrain to make sure the porsche sells. It is so bad for Audi right now that all of their RS models are now almost a generation behind BMW in performance. The RS4 no longer even tries to compete with the M3.

The problem becomes worse downstream. VW cannot get performance engines as they are seen to compete with equivalent Audi's. The Arteon, for example was supposed to come with the 2.5vr6 turbo on the higher trims, but nuffed so that it would not compete with the RS5. The highest trim Golf R is also a step down from the second highest hatch from Audi, the S3. Even the touareg is not spared.

I wish VAG allows the marquees to compete on development of new driving technology

I modified the headline to be a little more informative and less about avocados.

https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-britishcars/you-had-me-at-avo-mst-shows-new-mk1-sports/50046

This is something I've always admired the Brits for. They can produce continuations/evocations built on new body shells for less than six figures (~90k GBP including VAT; they start at about $122k US).

Here in the States, you'd be hard-pressed to increase the price 50% and turn a profit. You'd also be hard-pressed to import or buy a good Escort and properly restomod it for $200k.

Me? I'll have a sorted Alfa Giulia Super, or a Lotus Cortina, or a Fiat Abarth 1000 OTS replica, or a 1000TCR replica, or a 124 Abarth Stradale replica, or... well, a lot of options. But- I'm glad this exists for more moneyed people who want a new vintage car built to their specs.

I just don't get how that happened, I get the post war prosperity, but we're people really well off enough to buy 600k units of a niche 2 door muscle car in 1966?

That would put it at number 2 if it happened today ahead of all SUV's, Toyotas, Honda, etc in the US, only slightly behind the Ford F Series.
