Everything looks good from 40 to 200 so I think the integration is great, do I just need to move it? I've run Audessy room correction, and Ive tried it with and without two smaller / older def tech subs, any thoughts?

I have wall mounted TVs with wires going to outlets that are behind the TV, so all is hidden when you are looking at it from the front. However from the sides, you can still see wires. This is not clean enough for me.

Is there any type of material that can go from the edge of the TV to the wall? So you don't see any wires. It needs to be a transparent diffusion type material so the LEDs behind the TV can still spill light out onto the walls.

I have tried using diffusion paper but it is too flimsy, it bends and warps and doesn't look clean. Need something more rigid that could be cut to size with a saw or scissors.

I have a 5.2 system. The two subs sit on each side of the TV. My AVR only supports one sub output that I divide between the two subs using a Y connector. Both subs have a manual phase adjust settings. I have tried a few phase settings. Very quickly it gets exhausting and overwhelming. What’s the best way to phase match the two subs? Are there any step by step instructions?

Looking to put about 3k into back yard system. We play a ton of music and we have a theater area already set up.

Considering 4-6 atrium 8s and a couple Sat 300s.

Do I need a base? If so, what kind/size?

What do I need for a reciever/amp? I want to make sure 9 able to push the full range of all speakers.

I would post a pick of the space, but not sure i can in this sub....

Hi,

Setup here is:

Nvidia Shield Pro (source)

Marantz NR 1602 (AVR)

BenQ HT-3550 4K/HDR (Projector)

My AVR doesn't support 4K or Atmos, but otherwise is great for my needs. I just upgraded to this projector, and would love to be able to get 4K picture and the best possible sound, but I've been having trouble.

Going (Shield)>HDMI>(AVR)>HDMI>(Projector), I get the best ease of control and sound signal, but only 1080p. Fine, what works for now, but not ideal.

(Shield)>HDMI>(Projector) is the only way to get 4K, but I'm having trouble getting audio with all three of the following options:

Optical: Turning on the projector's optical out. running (Projector)>Optical>(AVR), and switching to the optical input on the receiver doesn't work for some reason. I've never hooked up any toslink devices to this receiver before, so either that function randomly doesn't work, or I'm not choosing the right Input settings to get the AVR to play from the optical source.

HDMI ARC: Maybe I'm completely wrong in thinking this could have worked, but I plugged HDMI from the Shield into HDMI-2 on the projector, turned on ARC (only works through HDMI-1 on the projector,) and ran HDMI cable from HDMI-1 to one of the HDMI inputs on the receiver. Maybe the projector won't send ARC down a different channel than the one it's getting the signal on (my guess), or I can't get my AVR to recognize and play an audio-only signal through an HDMI.

HDMI Audio Splitter: I also tried using an old HDMI Audio extractor, that takes an HDMI-in and puts out HDMI video and sound via Optical. That either didn't work at all, or put out 1080p with no sound through optical.

Any thoughts? The on-screen directions and manual from the AVR are pretty obtuse, like most always are, but I can't figure out why at least the Optical solution isn't working, even if that's not the best possible sound quality.

Current setup:

  • Receiver - Denon AVR-S660H
  • Center - Neumi CS5
  • Left/Right - 2x Neumi BS5
  • Surrounds - 2x Boston CR6
  • Subwoofer - Polk RM6750

I just picked up a set of vintage (1990s) NHT SuperZero A450 bookshelf speakers. I’m fairly happy with my current setup, but couldn’t pass these up as they were $12 total at a thrift store. Are these worth adding to my setup or should I just resell them? If it’s worth adding them, which speakers should I replace with them?

Hi everyone.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone could explain why this works and how I can improve the situation.

Situation: Random white flashes and occasional black screens with HDMI repeater and long (25m) cable in place.

Gear: Sony STR-DN1080 receiver. LG OLED 55B8SLC TV

Everything worked fine when I had a short (2m) cable going from the receiver to the TV. No flashes, dropouts and Dolby Vision worked flawlessly.

The problems started when I moved to my new house (was renting before) and mounted the TV on the wall.

TV is on the wall and the rest of my gear (receiver etc) is on the opposite side of the room. To achieve this the installer ran a 20 metre HDMI cable around then wall (along the the other cables I needed).

This wouldn’t work. I could bring up the Sony config menu but that was it. No other devices such as my Apple TV would display an image.

Tried an HDMI repeater ( HDMI Repeater Neoteck 60M 4K... ) - No joy.

Tried an HDMI over Ethernet system ( PW-HT249HK HDMI KVM USB Extender 196ft/60m Transmission over Single Cat5e/6/7 HD 4K@60Hz Support Loop out 3D EDID Function ) - This worked and was stable but no Dolby Vision.

Note: All of the above was using the HDMI A output of the STR-DN1080.

I then purchased a 25m Ruipro optical cable ( RUIPRO 8K Fiber Optic HDMI Cable... )

Now, this didn’t display a image at first. However:

Connected directly to the Apple TV - works perfectly.

Connected to the HDMI B output of the STR-DN1080 - works perfectly

Finally I connected back to the HDMI A output of the Sony but re-used the HDMI repeater from before.

Wahlah! All working. Dolby Vision, ARC, CEC all work.

However I get random white flashes and black screen pauses.

My questions is why does work? AFAIK the only difference between HDMI A and B is B does not have ARC or CEC (which I would like to use l).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi there,

I have a 5.1 2009 Aperion system that seems to be on its last legs. One of the surround speakers crackles, the sub has started popping, and because my AV receiver is on the wane (it's a basic yamaha receiver), my center speaker often cuts out. Basically, I'm looking to get a full replacement for my home setup.

Living room is in a large, open plan space with a dedicated 16' x 12' area (16' deep). Ceiling is 9' high. I already have a 77" C1 TV.

Budget is around $6k. Hoping for something that's great for both movies and music. I was looking at a full Sonos setup, but, reading on here, sounds like they're not great on the music side of things.

Thanks for your time!

Hey everyone, currently setting up my chromecast, and will need an extension in some capacity. Wondering what the best practice is regarding power, data degradation, etc. I currently have my projector in one location (A), with a power source in another location (B). Location B is also the location of the surge projector, receiver, and will likely the be the location of any future media hardware (blu-ray player, etc.).

Option 1: HDMI extension from A to B (thus chromecast will be powered with stock cable/brick, to surge protector)

Option 2: Power extension cable from B to A (extension cable into surge protector, which then extends to projector location to power chromecast)

Option 3: USB C Extension from B to A (chromecast stock brick in surge protector, with elongated USB C cable to chromecast at projector location)

I'm thinking option 1 is suitable, espcecially if I ever want to replace the chromecast with something more robust in the future. From what I'm seeing online, I don't need to worry about HDMI degradation under like 20', and I'm well within that range (10'ish). Appreciate any help!

I want to build a modest 5.1 system. I don't expect I will ever have more than 5.1 due to the room size and budget.

That being said I was wondering if I should purchase a 5.1 AVR or something better.

Are there features or functionality in a 7.2 receiver that you do not get in a 5.1 receiver? Better sound? Or would that just be a waste of money. Any recommendations? Thank you.

I know it's risky to mix and match different brands but it seems the OWM3 is the best solution for me for height speakers on my budget. I'm just worried it might not work if it's not the same brand as the rest of the set up. Should I be worried?

This might be a very dumb question. Can I just not use the two back speakers of a 5.1 system and use it as a 3.1? The issue would be to get the sound from those speakers into the 2 front ones.
