I watch both the WAN show and Waveform podcast.

Something which is becoming more and more apparent is how seemingly out-of-touch the boys on Waveform podcast are.

The Waveform guys often speak as though they know nothing of the world outside of their occupation and say things which can be annoyingly disconnected from reality.

I consider myself quite interested in the tech sphere and my job is even tech related. However, my job has me working almost entirely with people who are not at all tech savvy, which probably keeps me somewhat grounded.

Linus and Luke's chat was oddly satisfying to hear.

Just got a windows security update(KB5072033) that broke Bluetooth for me. It completely disappeared from the system tray and everything. Spent over an hour uninstalling/reinstalling drivers, restarting, etc. Tried running the troubleshooter, which kept telling me it was opening windows update and I should see it telling me to restart my PC. Which obviously wasn't true because updating to the most recent update was what caused the issue. Finally it told me to perform a cold boot.

Please tell me why after using computers for almost 25 years I didn't think to just hold down the power button and then unplug the power supply? 😭 I'm not sure that that has ever fixed an issue for me besides a frozen PC, but it was the fix here. I feel so dumb, right now. The most beginner troubleshooting move completely escaped me for over an hour.

I’m trying to watch the current Wan show but I’m late to it so I want to rewind, but it won’t let me. The bar is white and does nothing when I try and use it. Is this a new YouTube thing? Have they gotten rid of rewinding livestreams or has LTT suddenly decided that you can’t rewind when they’re live for some reason.

Thank you LTT.

That is the right way to do it. I critized you because at first you wanted to force us to deal with UPS horrible customer service.

But new we just wait and get our money back. That is the way to go. Good work!

As discussed on the WAN show today, and detailed in a previous LTT post here, if you are affected by this, there is a reason discussed in detail at that link.

The readers digest version is:

... if you get a ridiculous import or duty fee bill from your carrier ... PAY IT.

If you have an incoming shipment, it’s very important that you pay your duty bill as-is,

  • LTT promises to repay you.

  • DO NOT cancel your order ... as it is less likely you will be able to reorder the items.

  • If you were affected by this, LTT knows about you, and you should get an email soon about it. Refunds should happen by December 19th, 2025.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against NVIDIA for "unlawfully circumventing technological measures to access and scrape millions of copyrighted videos from the online video viewing platform, YouTube, in order to feed, train, improve, and commercialize Defendant’s large-scale generative artificial intelligence foundational model named Cosmos."

The YouTubers involved are h3h3Productions (as Ted Entertainment, Inc.), MrShortGame Golf and Golfholics.

Hundreds of their videos across multiple channels are included in the HDVILA-100M, HD-VG-130M and HowTo100M datasets that NVIDIA used to train Cosmos AI.

748 h3h3 videos were included in total, 99 Golfholics videos and 7 MrShortGame Golf videos for a total of 854 videos which translates to hundreds of hours of stolen content.

Looking through the aforementioned datasets, I was easily able to locate several LinusTechTips (and other LMG channels) YouTube video IDs. Could perhaps Linus join in on the action? While there's a similar lawsuit against NVIDIA filed in Canada (James Bernard MacKinnon v. NVIDIA Corporation), it focuses on books and not YouTube videos.
