I just got a cidooo v21 numpad, and was very excited to use macros for OBS.

I have been using alt-z for tap-to-talk in obs, and i set up layer 3 to be obs macros. I want "enter" to be tap to talk ie alt-z. When i press the enter key and keep it held, it only registers as a short tap. I even made sure the macro is set for keydown on both keys.

Whats the simplest way to have the macro report as held for the duration of me holding the enter key?

Edit: potential alternate solution: whats the best way to have different macros for the press and release of the enter key? That way i could simply unmute on press and mute on release

My havit KB395L died. It was cheapish, but great for me. I should have bought 3, because they don't make it anymore.

I bought a Red Dragon Horus (k618rgp-pro) with red switches as a replacement. The form factor is fine, and I like the wireless, but the keys feel mushy and I make typos constantly.

So, now I'm looking for something with:

• Low Profile
• Blue switches
• Tactile (feel the bump on a key press)
• Full size (I guess I could go ten keyless)
• Backlight Bonus features:
• Wireless
• Hot swappable switches

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

At home I have a Das Keyboard with Cherry MX browns and they feel great. I think this is the quickest I've been able to type on any keyboard.

I type a lot for my new job and no one cares if I bring in my own keyboard but for my coworkers sake, I don't think I want to bring in browns. I'm a heavy typer and frankly I'm loud on browns.

I searched for quieter keys and found Cherry MX Red Silents (Durgod keyboard) but after typing on it a few days at work, I'm making way more mistakes, I'm typing slower, and my hands are more fatigued. That's when I learned about linear vs tactile... I think tactile is what I need.

So with that, I'm looking for:

Need:

• Tactile
• Light switches (should not take much force to activate? idk. Browns are good for me, for reference)
• Quiet
• 100% layout

Want:

• Switches I can put the Draula keycaps on that my friend bought me. I just know they fit fine on Cherry MX Browns and Red Silent.
• USB-C port. I have a coiled cable I want to use already.

Nice to have:

• Hot swappable PCB

Open to other info I'm not thinking about.

Edit: After looking around some more this evening, I'm leaning toward grabbing a Keychron K10 Pro, grabbing some Zilents V2's and sticking those in there, then popping on the caps I have. This would be the most building I've done for a keyboard. See any issues with that?

Based on the recommendations here and some other threads I read, I went with a Keychron Q6 Max and the Zilent V2's.

I confirmed that my poor speed and accuracy on the (previous) new board I had gotten was definitely due to my not being used to linears. After a day of using the new Keychron with Zilents I did a typing test and got a new PB.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Now I'm in trouble because I want to replace my home keyboard with the same...

The 8bitdo keyboard has been pretty well-received as a ~$100 wireless keyboard with ABS keycaps. I love the way this C64 color scheme looks.

I have an 8bitdo arcade stick, which looks like it uses the same knob as this keyboard for selecting the wireless mode. I love the way it feels every time I turn it on.

Hi everyone! I'm planning on getting a split keyboard to replace my planck, but I don't have a soldering iron.

What are my options ? Ideally I want:

• DIY, no soldering involved
• QMK firmware
• 40% format

The keyboard I'm leaning toward is the let's split as it's a planck split in two halves, but it seems that you need to at least solder the keycaps yourself, which I can't.

Hello everyone!

I just got my GMMK Tenkeyless keyboard, which is the first one I own with RGB. I would love to be able to customise the RGB, but being brand new to it I'm a bit lost.

A little preface: I am on Linux. I think this is important later on when I mention Via.

So to start, I looked on the supported keyboards page on the qmk website, and couldn't find my keyboard by searching for GMMK. Furthermore, if I go to the Glorious Gaming site I can't find any other keyboards other than what appear to be their current flagship ones (hence I can't find any specific board information or anything like that). One thing i did find is the software for the GMMK 1 TKL from here, but it is an .exe and hence I can't use it. I did think of running it through wine, but given that there will be firmware flashing involved I'd rather not risk going through a compatibility layer or messing anything up.

I also tried the Via webapp, but when I try to Authorize device I get a browser popup in my permissions section which states that there are no compatible devices found. I'm unsure if this is because it is not supported by Via or if its because it can't detect it because I am on Linux.

I also went through the qmk configurator but unsurprisingly my specific model was not in the list seeing as I couldn't find it in the supported keyboards list I mentioned earlier.

So finally for my question: Is there any way I can configure the RGB on my keyboard without having to find a windows machine and using the GMMK 1 software?

Made my gf a keyboard for her birthday and she's enjoying it, but is missing light up indicator when caps lock is on. I know this key sucks and I disabled it on mine but she uses it a lot for her job.

The keyset I got her is completely opaque so you can't really see the caps light unless you're right above the keyboard looking at the edges of the caps key.

I took some spare keys of the same shape and drilled holes right above the indicator light and it shines through pretty well, but want to fill it with something clear to make it look nicer/diffract the light a bit. Does anyone have any recommendations? Was thinking about using polyurethane caused I've used it for random other things and seems like it could work.

I assume this is QMK, because changing the settings clears or introduces the issue. I'm using Vial for the programming/configuration.

I have a key configured tap-dance, like many others: - on tap, and ctrl on hold. The issue is that most of the time when I type something like -p, I get only the -. Then, the next time I type p, I get 2 of them. So something like this will happen:

I type foo -p bar baz, but don't notice the p is missing until after baz, cursor left and type p again, and end up with -pp

Most of my keys are tap-dance of some pattern: on tap, layer shift in hold, on tap-hold. I've noticed this buffered character after - on other characters; it isn't just p. Changing the timeout does affect the frequency, but doesn't entirely eliminate it. I haven't noticed it on any other combo, although they're all of the same pattern; it seems to be only happening with the -/ctrl tap-dance. Removing the multitap on - eliminates the issue.

This is my first QMK. I'd been using an Ergodox for years, and kmonad on my laptop for a year or so, although I recently switched to kanata (fantastic piece of software, incidentally), so I'm more or less familiar with the world of layers, multi-tap/tap-dance, combos, and so on. This one has me stumped, though.

I've checked and there's no combo defined that involves dash. I've never created a QMK macro, but it occurs to me that I didn't check if there are any defined.

Does anyone have a suggestion of how I can debug this? Could there be some bug, some bit that I accidentally set, that's causing this? Is there some QMK feature that does exactly this thing, and I've somehow enabled it? I've power cycled the keyboard, although I haven't yet tried a hard or factory reset.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Hello. I'm searching for a TKL board with dedicated media keys, volume wheel, and brown switches.

I just can't do linears. Just don't feel right.

I've browsed around, both on amazon and in microcenter and everything seems to be linear switches nowadays and even when I find one with browns, they rarely have the media keys I need.

I'm also not trying to pay $100+ for a keyboard. Spent way too much money on boards of that price for them to keel over and die as quick as the china fodder on amazon. (For example the K70 mk.2 that I have that refuses to not go bonkers whenever it feels like it.)

Hello to all keyboard enthusiast here on the Fédiverse.

For the longest time, I have used a TypeMatrix 2030 as my daily driver, most of which was spent daydreaming of finding a close approximation that would be mechanical. Failing to find one, I procrastinated in researching how I could build my own, which was an error.

Now, my good old TypeMatrix is showing signs of dying, and I still don't have even started on its mechanical replacement. So, I would like help and counsel on how to make one.

I don't need it to be identical, (I don't need the rightmost column on the actual TypeMatrix, for example) but I DO need the middle column with "del", "backspace" and "enter" keys.

Would anyone be willing to help me, please?

It's a sad day: My previous mechanical keyboard more/less died. Multiple keys just stopped working and even upon replacing them with new switches: still dead.

So anyways I'm looking for a keyboard with some specific features:

• full size (extra macro keys would be a bonus!)
• rgb backlit
• has at least one usb port on it (so it has a builtin hub of sorts) Super bonus if it also has a type c passthrough port.
• user-swapable cherry-mx compatible switches. (bonus if it comes with browns)
• bonus points if it can run open-source firmware
• bonus points if it has a volume spinner-thing

I know its asking a bunch, but hey if someone has seen one of these, or has ideas: let me know.

Budget: idk, but I'd be willing to pay probably $200 ish if it was a perfect match and seemed legit.

Hey guys, I have a sofle v4 from 42.keebs which uses this switch on the inner side to switch it on / off when using the battery. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32406053825.html I am currently building a 3d printed case which is made for a regular v2 so the switch does not fit. Do you guys know a vertical switch with the same footprint or do I have to use bodge wires?

Been looking for ages for a 75/80% compact keeb with aluminum body, ISO-DE and 2.4Ghz Wireless.

Finally got my package with the IQUNIX Super Zonex 75. Gateron Silent MX Reds and Keychron Developer Cap Set to replace my old Corsair K70.

Super happy with the Zonex 75, decently heavy, looks and feels very nice. 6000mAh, VIA support, and great lighting, absolutely in love. Gateron reds feel very well, but I've had several broken pins in my batch and had to swap several switches since they have not been working. No idea if I screwed up, since it's my first custom build, or just a bad batch. Keychron keycaps are also feeling super nice.

Swapped out the stock Gateron Brown switches for MX2A Ergo Clear. Added o-rings to shorten the key travel to 2.5-3mm. The result feels dramatically different. Individual key presses feel amazing. I'm not sure about typing yet.
