So, starting now, Google started mandating full JS for YT, effectively breaking all third-party clients and locking the site to their official client.

This reeks of DRM.

UPDATE: Installing Deno and installing yt-dlp through PyPi fixes yt-dlp but the very idea that Google is mandating JS to lock down YT in an attempt at pseudo-DRM is still crappy.

UPDATE #2: inv.nadeko.net is working again for now.

Found this while surfing the webz, thought you might it as interesting and amusing as I did. Hopefully it's not too OT.

It's a mix of piracy history, code golfing, free speech activism, art, digital community, and general ingenuity that ends up being a critique of digital copyright under the DMCA. Also found the quote at the end of the table to be sadly still very relevant.

As long as I am mayor of this city [Jersey City, New Jersey] the great industries are secure. We hear about constitutional rights, free speech and the free press. Every time I hear these words I say to myself, That man is a Red, that man is a Communist. You never hear a real American talk like that. -- Frank "I am the law" Hague (1896-1956)

The growing popularity of the “Bowie” bond — a security backed by royalties — may sound strange, but it’s nothing new. In treating songs like annuities, capitalists prove once again that nothing is too sacred, or silly, to be commodified.

I used to pirate a lot back in the YIFY and original Pirate Bay era. Did IRC downloads, torrent and Pirate Bay and similar sites.

Used a good ISP that did not care. Fast forward to now. Our ISP is not pirate friendly.

Have used TorGuard VPN for 10-15yrs now and it seems to work fine for our minimal needs.

Would like to know what would be best for getting books for our son with autism and epilepsy. He devours books.

Our local library has cut a ton of books to his chagrin. An example the Series of Unfortunate Events books.

What are the best pirate book sites to hit and what to use?

Not sure if this the right place to ask but since I love sailing the high seas, maybe you guys would know. A preface before the question: I am of the mindset that others' reasons to pirate are their own and any discourse on supporting creators is not productive and financial support should be left to the individual's own devices and morals. It's not for me to judge, blah blah blah.

Anyway, I was thinking about South Park and am wondering how their shift to Paramount+ has been. I wonder if they're making any good profit since not a lot of people have subcriptions and especially so after the whole Colbert thing.

It's been suggested here and there on this sub that a good way to financially support creators, if a pirate wants to do so, is donating directly do them. Does anybody know of a way to do this with bigger creators? If South Park was in any danger of being cancelled due to funding, I was considering this option since I'll never give my money to a streaming service again. Any ideas?

Does anyone have experience with this? Or perhaps an alternative? I've been trying to add a torrent client but it just hangs and never actually adds it. I also cannot see that it has support for adding any trackers?

So, I’ve been trying to find a specific bit of Mac software for a while, and keep coming up blank (any site suggestions?). It’s a pretty common program, and I can find no end of the most recent windows versions, but if there is any for Mac they’re about 10 generations behind, and hardly seeded. I’ve trawled the megathread, to no avail. Any suggestions on where to look?

My... shit I've been doing this since Lockdown, replay of the Armored Core series is just about out of the PS2 era and on to the PS3.

And that made me realize... I have no flipping idea how that works these days. I know I want an emulator (RPSC3) and I found a site that might have ISOs. And that is probably actually fine for AC4 since I don't think that got any DLC. But calibrations and the like were a thing.

From a bit of googling I saw people mention something called "nopaystation" that basically uses what I assume is a hacked/fake PSN to streamline this which sounds awesome (and that I would only ever dare use in wine because holy shit that sounds dangerous). I saw some guides that alluded to setting that up with RPSC3 but... they don't actually? But I also recall people mentioning using pirated Demon Souls and AC4 servers and... some of the Influencers I have seen very clearly play emulated PS3 games are not the kind of people who even know what an ISO is so that probably isn't the path folk are taking.

So... what are the current best practices/methods for actually grabbing PS3 games? And maybe xbox/360 if I ever decide I want to Mech Assault again.

Thanks

Yo ho me hearties,

I was reading through Servarr wiki's VPN Guide and saw this callout:

For most users, secure DNS is sufficient instead of VPNs and fixes indexer connectivity issues without the complexity and problems of VPN setups

Are VPNs no longer the recommended practice? I was under the impression a VPN was pretty much required for sharing stuff in a copyright-sensitive country. I'd be delighted if I could simplify my app stack.

@piracy does anyone know any free ai api proxy provider with deepseek models? 🙏🏻

I know thingiverse and cults3D offer some free files, but all the nicer prints are locked behind paywalls.

Is there something listed in the MegaThread that I might have missed?

If not, then where would be a good place to look?

Hey,

do you know of any way (except paying obviously) to get paid substack content like podcasts?

Are there any sites offering something like that?

Looking for help here. I created a new Firefox profile and wanted to load the Bypass Paywalls Clean Add-on/Extension from the XPI file. So I did what I've always done and got the message displayed above.

Then I went into about:config and changed both xpinstall.whitelist.required and xpinstall.signatures.required to false. Fully exited and restarted the browser but still, no dice.

Anyone know how to fix this?

SOLUTION: go to extensions.blocklist.enabled and turn it to false

So, I have my arr stack set up to queue downloads through qbittorrent and I've tweaked my release/delay profiles to 720 minutes after release. For some reason my modified version of Sonarr is trying to grab my requested linux .iso's before the official release. Fortunately, I have .mp4 and .mkv filtered in qbittorrent so I don't end up with any of those nasty pirated tv shows, but it clogs up my download client. They'll just sit at 100% complete and seed indefinitely because all the content is filtered to "do not download".

Sonarr sees this as progress in the activity tab and won't attempt to pick up the actual linux iso release when it is official.

Hey! I am looking for an easier way to stream live TV, specifically sports. Currently we access streams via freemediaheckyeah on an Intel NUC which has Linux, Firefox and a keyboard and mouse, HDMI to TV.

I have a proxmox server in another location which has Plex, jellyfin, Debian and some other stuff. We cast from our phones to the Chromecast.

I'm wondering if there's a way I can eliminate the living room NUC and stream from my proxmox server to a Chromecast. Or something similar that removes the keyboard mouse browser combo. Looking for reducing power and heat usage partly and simplicity.

I got this 1 free month reward from NVIDIA app it already past one month but I still can use it. Can Adobe do anything against me? Like take me to court or something along those lines? I heard this was a bug that other people also got

Ahoy, all! I am rehabbing an old MacBook Pro, running Mojave, which I keep local LAN only (MAC filtering at router) so I can share files and print from it but it never communicates with the wider net. This makes it perfect to use for the older versions of apps like Adobe Creative Suite 5 and MSOffice that I far prefer over newer versions, and I already have those working fine.

My sole problem is Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for Mac, which requires a key, ANY locally valid key, to get past the initial setup, and I don't have mine anymore.

Problem is, nobody has any. I can find entire lists of keys for the Windows version of Acrobat Pro 9, no exaggeration, but for Mac? Crickets.

I've looked high and low, and nothing. I even looked at maybe a cracked install of only Acrobat Pro, but all the vetted cracked versions of Acrobat Pro on the seas are much newer, which I'm pretty certain I cannot run in tandem on the same box with Adobe CS 5.

I even tried the AMT folder thing, where you can at least get a trial code from your own install that you then increment up as needed to extend the trial indefinitely, but that is for Acrobat X and up: this folder literally does not exist on this machine, though it does for later versions on both Windows and Mac.

I mean, a key, that's it. That's all I need. One key that was valid at some point in the last fifteen years, doesn't even have to be good anymore.

Any ideas or suggestions as to where to look? Thanks in advance for all assistance.

Exactly the title. I'm researching having a jellyfin server and downloading media seems like it would be tedious (the way I've done it once or twice previously). I could use some clarity on what Sonarr is, what it looks like (like is there a GUI?? I'm too stupid to run something off of a terminal), and how it works. I'm familiar with torrenting but not with usenet, and I use the megathread from this community. Can someone explain Sonarr/Radarr to me in a way that would be understandable to someone at my level of understanding?
