Hi,

Bought the deck a month ago, as I am going through divorce and cant always be in my house anymore… initially wanted it to play WoW handheld during breaks at work or in hotels…

Turns out I played WoW 1 time on it for 10 minutes and got caught in 30-40 indie roguelike type games…. i bought 50 games since I got the deck. Yes 50… all on sale for a few cheap bucks.

I got witcher3, gta, borderlands etc and other AAA games on it too, but feel 0 need to play them as I feel this handheld is much better for indie stuff on the go…

Anyone else changed their mind when buying it?

I wasnt into indies before

Seems... A lot less useful if that's the intended case

As someone who has had every current gen console and preferred the hybrid nature of the Switch, getting a Steam Deck is probably one of the best gaming decisions I’ve ever made. With how greedy the console ecosystem is looking these days, especially everything surrounding the Switch 2, I figured it was time to go somewhere consumer friendly. I’m really loving the freedom that the Steam Deck provides considering it’s a little mini PC. I even got this J5create usb C Type to HDMI hub to dock it and it works flawlessly. Shout out to Valve. I’m never paying to play games online again

I’ve had nothing go wrong with my deck since I’ve owned my OLED SD, but this latest update ruined a lot of things. Here’s the wild list of bizarre things that are happening:

My wifi won’t connect no matter what I do. Both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Even tried a 3rd router that the deck had previously never connected to. If I do try to connect to my wifi, it stays on the connecting popup but then crashes shortly after and shows the “verifying installation” screen with a progress bar. If I try to connect it to my iPhone hotspot, it works but then none of my buttons work including power, steam and ••• buttons and then just sort of sits there until I use the touch screen and reboot my system which when powers back on, has no screen display. The only way to get it back to work is to hold down the power button till it shuts down and boots up again. Also tried desktop mode. Nothing helps.

What in the world is happening? Help!

As title says, i've had my 1tb Steamdeck a couple of months now, I played the hell out of it for a month or so (Mass Effect trilogy!) And i've played a few other games here and there but i'm mostly still using my pc. I'm curious if any of you are in the same boat, I feel kind of guilty having spent so much on this device that I thought i'd get much more use out of. I've been thinking I would sell it, but would rather not!

If anyone stopped using theirs for a while, what got you back into using it regularly? Similarly, did anyone get a deck and just not use it much?

“One thing that we have learned is that [alternative game acquisition] is not a pricing issue. It’s a service issue,” explained Newell during his time on stage at the Washington Technology Industry Association's (WTIA) Tech NW conference. “The easiest way to stop [alternative game acquisition] is not by putting anti[alternative game acquisition] technology to work. It’s by giving those people a service that’s better than what they’re receiving from the [alternative game acquirers].”

i bought my oled a few months ago. have since purchased hundreds of $ in steam games after being a hitherto alternative game acquirer. the integration is simply too clean. well played valve

So I recently got myself a steam deck oled and I’m loving it! There’s so much you can do! Coming from the switch, this is a breath of fresh air.

Currently playing Spider-man Remastered and pokemmo. I have downloaded a few other games to play after. I heard Rimworld plays amazingly well. And I am looking forward to play some fromsoft games too!

What are your most played and favourite games on the steam deck?

I shared 18 games I'd easily recommend for the Steamdeck, here are 18 more! These aren't rated in any particular order.

  1. Chivalry 2 ( 9.5/10 Mostly runs perfect though I stick to 40 player matches rather than 64)
  2. Sleeping Dogs (10/10 If you haven't played or completed Sleeping Dogs the Steamdeck is perfect!)
  3. Risk of Rain 2 (9/10 This is my first playthrough and it's on Steamdeck it's a fun experience)
  4. Valheim (9/10 Runs great handheld mode great immersive game)
  5. Days Gone (10/10 runs great good story)
  6. GTA 5 (8/10 Runs great on high settings can't play multiplayer)
  7. Postal 2 (10/10 It's Postal 2, runs great supports controllers)
  8. Outlast 1 & Outlast 2 (10/10 Both run great scary horror single player game)
  9. 7 Days to Die (7.5/10 Runs decent on low-medium settings)
  10. Rimworld (9/10 If you like Rimworld you probably already tried on your Steamdeck)
  11. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands (10/10 Actually runs great 40-45fps)
  12. The Witcher Wild Hunt (9/10 Runs great no complaints)
  13. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (7/10 Runs good)
  14. Teardown (8/10 It has great fps until you push the limits with physics)
  15. Rising Storm 2 Vietnam (8.5/10 Great game works multiplayer too but I recommend playing docked)
  16. Rocket League (9/10 Through Epic Launcher)
  17. Ace Combat 7 (9/10 No complaints)
  18. Warframe (9/10 Free and runs great!)

Not everyone wants to use the magnifier all the time for lore heavy games and not everyone wants to keep the steam deck close to their face to read the UI

And that tag is “Can be played off-line.” Just loaded my deck with games for a 20 hour flight coming up in June to keep me occupied and most of them require online access to play… and they’re single player games.…
