A community dedicated to the universe of Warhammer 40k, a tabletop setting in the far, distant future.

This is a general community for 40k miniatures, art, lore discussion, and gameplay discussion.

Rules

  1. Keep it civil.
  2. No memeposts/shitposts. Memes are great but direct them to grimdank.
  3. Please mark any posts containing realistic nudity or realistic excessive gore/violence as NSFW; this rule mainly applies to cosplay and realistic drawings rather than miniatures. Being that 40k is inherently violent, this is a judgement call, and mods may occasionally request posters add tags.
  4. No contemporary politics, no political debates. This is a space to enjoy the hobby and get away from the doomscrolling.

Josh over at the Crown of Command podcast asked me if I had considered doing some ork terrain like the old adobe huts they had in 90s white dwarf and here is my first attempt.

It was printed off on an Ender 3 with no supports and can be downloaded from either of my stores if anyone wants to print one for themselves.

For anyone not familiar, it's basically a free reskin of Excel that runs on Linux. Enjoy!

I'm new to 40K and want to try playing with my group of friends.

From my understanding, 40K is primarily played as a 1v1 or maybe 2v2 game. I was wondering whether there were rules (official or community-made) for running 3- or 4-player free-for-all games.

It seems like it would mostly work within the rules, but I'm not sure how Command Points and the Fight Phase would work with more than 2 players.

My interest in being free-for-all vs two-headed-giant is the element of strategy and politics it brings (like Commander in Magic: the Gathering)

Thoughts are appreciated!

40k noob here, slowly building up to a 1000 point Ork army

So far I have

Ork Combat Patrol
1x Beastboss (80 pts)
2x Beast Snagga boyz (2 x 95 = 190pts)
1x Squighog Boyz (160pts)

1x Trukk (65pts)

1x Killa Kanz (125pts)

1x Stormboyz (65pts)

Which should take me to 685pts

So far I've just kind of been randomly acquiring things based on what looks cool to me in the moment when I see them in a store, which feels like an appropriately orky way to build an army, but I figured I should maybe start applying a little kunnin to my burgeoning WAAAGH

So where would yooz gitz go frum here?

I'm thinking a box or two of gretchin will probably be my next acquisition, which leaves me with 200-some points to fill

EDIT: Based on comments here and a bit of googling, I think I'm looking at getting

2x10 grots
1x Beastboss on squigosaur
1x10 Boyz

Which will get me to 975 points, good enough for me

just a question I came up with, what would he do? could he survive long enough to begin shrinking planets ? would the necron work with him or would he be a renegade faction all to himself?

Unliving Voice, Convent of the Four Exultant

The Porphyrion is now epoxied and securely screwed into its base. I didn't realize how far forward I posed this. Granted, as a Chaos Knight having a "long-range" unit charging in for the kill isn't out of the question.

So I just recently found out the slaanesh wasn't the god of excess originally but essentially the chaos god of sex in older additions. alot of her lore was focused around sex and sexual topics before GW rebranded her to be excess in all its form, which was a good thing. now I'm curious what was the lore around fulgrim's fall during this time or was it not made back then before slaanesh got rebranded?

I've been trying to paint more of my 3D print designs and finally got to put some on the table. We were playing Space Weirdos rather than 40k, but I figured you folks might like to see all the old school 40k terrain on the board.

Hey all! I just played my first game of 40k recently, using a ~1k Thousand Sons list. I got pretty roundly stomped by my opponent using Space Marines.

Admittedly, I didn't really make use of rituals or stratagems, and I'm sure we missed plenty of unit abilities, so it may not have been super representative.

Either way, are there any TSons players here? I'd like to pick up some tips if there are any ๐Ÿ‘€

So a few months ago I found a video about slaanesh and how her module line is pretty basic. however what he did was homebrew some slaaneshi units that could be a bit of a shakeup, the idea was that since slaanesh gains power from the excesses of the other chaos gods that there should be a little overlap between them.

For khorne the idea was these body builder warriors who take warp based steroid that make them into beasts that fight with great fury but when they aren't high on steroid their bodies are immaculate forms of muscles that look perpetually oiled. For tzeentch the idea was "an excess of knowledge" that the guys found numerous secrets that has opened their mind and allows them to discover more and more secrets that both horrifies and pleases them. for nurgle I think the idea was a unit that would brew diseases as potions that at first would feel good but them the negative effects would hit and kill them slowly.

the thing is I cant find the video and after nearly eight months of looking I'm convinced that it was a dream of mine. so if anyone has seen a video like this one on YouTube in the past then could they direct me to it or was it just me being crazy again?

I've just finished designing and test printing my take on another of the classic bunkers from 90's white dwarfs.

As with all my designs this was printed of on an Ender 3 without any supports and is available now on my Cults 3D page.

For anyone that prefers using MyMiniFactory it should be up there in the next few days as well.
