pedestrians

Is usually used to differentiate between car drivers and people walking on the street. It's technically correct, but reads a bit odd! https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/pedestrian

A better word might have been "passerby". https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/passerby
