The gun isn't to fight the military. It's to protect against random acts of political violence.
I would expect more political violence had Harris won. With Trump as the winner, wouldn’t violent hate crimes be the bigger concern?
Under the first Trump presidency, there was a substantial increase in politically motivated hate crime. So the answer to your question is both are true. If your existence isn't a political issue, then you should still get armed to defend the people around you.
Which is something people must defend against.
