They are able to work until the see that message.

Which is expected. You should only be able to access company resources via the VPN and if it drops then you lose access.

That's what I thought as well, but after a brief clarification from EU, they meant they can work normally, but is worried about the scary message.

Remember to give the EU some carrot for a false positive. It will make them more likely to report things in the future.

People always forget about the carrot part of the stick.
