As opposed to the alternative of being a slave or in prison in the "Land of the Free"?
I think he's joking. There isn't anything actually wrong with living in Mexico.
Mexico is awesome, but for some reason about half the US electorate thinks it's a hellish place. So no, it's not obvious that they're joking.
Too many of these morons think California, Chicago, et al. are shitholes too. Parts are, just like Mexico or anywhere else, but these idiots think the entire is shitty. Too aggressively ignorant and dumb to understand any type of nuance.
