Or do the pellets(?) not hurt too much?

Baggy clothes will mostly handle any pain, just be very good with goggles and follow rules for minimum ranges where applicable. Worst injury I ever got from an airsoft pellet is a tiny scar on my knuckle I received coming around a corner in front of someone shooting. Maybe 2' away and it looked liked I had picked a scab there. The further away you are the less it will sting until you hit a range where you have to listen for them hitting your clothes instead of feeling them
