I'm still surprised he didn't offer to buy the White House. But I would expect him to hold up the matches until conversations got even worse.
Instead of insulting the Americans by offering to buy the white house, he respected that some properties, such as the white house, are never for sale, also digging at Trump's real estate roots. He compares Canada to that, "after speaking with the owners of Canada, it is not for sale."
I like CBC's "About That" analysis.
I think Carney did exactly what he needed to do.
